    Is f1(1420)f_1(1420) the partner of f1(1285)f_1(1285) in the 3P1^3P_1 qqˉq\bar{q} nonet?

    Based on a 2×22\times 2 mass matrix, the mixing angle of the axial vector states f1(1420)f_1(1420) and f1(1285)f_1(1285) is determined to be 51.551.5^{\circ}, and the theoretical results about the decay and production of the two states are presented. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the present experimental results, which suggests that f1(1420)f_1(1420) can be assigned as the partner of f1(1285)f_1(1285) in the 3P1^3P_1 qqˉq\bar{q} nonet. We also suggest that the existence of f1(1510)f_1(1510) needs further experimental confirmation.Comment: Latex, 6 pages, to be published in Chin. Phys. let

    Development of a novel virtual coordinate measuring machine

    Existing VCMMs (virtual coordinate measuring machine) have been mainly developed to either simulate the measurement process hence enabling the off-line programming, or to perform error analysis and uncertainty evaluation. Their capability and performance could be greatly improved if there is a complete solution to cover the whole process and provide an integrated environment. The aim of this study is to develop such a VCMM that not only supports measurement process simulation, but also performs uncertainty evaluation. It makes use of virtual reality techniques to provide an accurate model of a physical CMM, together with uncertainty evaluation. An interface is also provided to communicate with CMM controller, allowing the measuring programs generated and simulated in the VCMM to be executed or tested on the physical CMM afterwards.     New Darboux Transformation for Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV System

    A new Darboux transformation is presented for the Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV system. It is shown that this Darboux transformation can be constructed by means of two methods: Painlev\'{e} analysis and reduction of a binary Darboux transformation.     Geometry, thermodynamics, and finite-size corrections in the critical Potts model

    We establish an intriguing connection between geometry and thermodynamics in the critical q-state Potts model on two-dimensional lattices, using the q-state bond-correlated percolation model (QBCPM) representation. We find that the number of clusters of the QBCPM has an energy-like singularity for q different from 1, which is reached and supported by exact results, numerical simulation, and scaling arguments. We also establish that the finite-size correction to the number of bonds, has no constant term and explains the divergence of related quantities as q --> 4, the multicritical point. Similar analyses are applicable to a variety of other systems.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

    Interfacial mixing during annealing of zinc oxide nanoparticle junctions

    The process of forming a junction between crystalline zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles during pulsed thermal annealing in liquid tetradecane is studied using molecular dynamics simulation. Pairs of equal and unequal size particles are considered with emphasis on neck growth and atom mixing. The contact area and interface width of the junction are found to increase with heat pulse power albeit at different rates. The results suggest that it is possible to increase the junction area without significant mixing of atoms across the junction interface by tailoring the heat pulse power
