Reasons for the Premature Decline in \u3ci\u3eAstragalus adsurgens\u3c/i\u3e Stands in Kerqin Sandy Land
Diseases partly account for reductions in Astragalus adsurgens, stand longevity. The effect of some cultural practices on the control of pests and diseases have been reported (Hou, 1986; Nan, 1996), but few reports have detailed the relationship among soil fertiliser status, diseases and premature stand decline. This study was conducted to investigate these relationships in order to extend the longevity of Astragalus adsurgens stands

'Medelyemoegheid' – die hantering van sekondêre traumatiese stres
'Compassion fatigue' – coping with secondary traumatic stress There is a cost to caring. Professionals who listen to clients’ stories of fear, pain and suffering may feel similar fear, pain and suffering because they care. Simply the knowledge that a loved one has been exposed to a traumatic event can be traumatising – in this respect trauma can sometimes be contagious. The consequence of this process is that trauma therapy profoundly changes the therapist. These changes are both inspiring and disturbing, involving gains and losses. Traumatology literature usually excludes those who have been traumatised indirectly; thus this aspect is specifically explored in this article. Terminology like compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, burnout, countertransference, and vicarious traumatisation, are explored. The importance of compassion satisfaction, a team approach and supervision is also highlighted. A list of typical characteristics of compassion fatigue is provided, as well as practical guidelines for dealing with and preventing this problem. Certain pastoral-theological perspectives concerning this theme are also discussed
Function approximation via the subsampled Poincaré inequality
Function approximation and recovery via some sampled data have long been studied in a wide array of applied mathematics and statistics fields. Analytic tools, such as the Poincaré inequality, have been handy for estimating the approximation errors in different scales. The purpose of this paper is to study a generalized Poincaré inequality, where the measurement function is of subsampled type, with a small but non-zero lengthscale that will be made precise. Our analysis identifies this inequality as a basic tool for function recovery problems. We discuss and demonstrate the optimality of the inequality concerning the subsampled lengthscale, connecting it to existing results in the literature. In application to function approximation problems, the approximation accuracy using different basis functions and under different regularity assumptions is established by using the subsampled Poincaré inequality. We observe that the error bound blows up as the subsampled lengthscale approaches zero, due to the fact that the underlying function is not regular enough to have well-defined pointwise values. A weighted version of the Poincaré inequality is proposed to address this problem; its optimality is also discussed
A Quasi-Exactly Solvable N-Body Problem with the sl(N+1) Algebraic Structure
Starting from a one-particle quasi-exactly solvable system, which is
characterized by an intrinsic sl(2) algebraic structure and the
energy-reflection symmetry, we construct a daughter N-body Hamiltonian
presenting a deformation of the Calogero model. The features of this
Hamiltonian are (i) it reduces to a quadratic combination of the generators of
sl(N+1); (ii) the interaction potential contains two-body terms and interaction
with the force center at the origin; (iii) for quantized values of a certain
cohomology parameter n it is quasi-exactly solvable, the multiplicity of states
in the algebraic sector is (N+n)!/(N!n!); (iv) the energy-reflection symmetry
of the parent system is preserved.Comment: Latex, 12 page
