An Empirical Study of Thermal Attacks on Edge Platforms
Cloud-edge systems are vulnerable to thermal attacks as the increased energy consumption may remain undetected, while occurring alongside normal, CPU-intensive applications. The purpose of our research is to study thermal effects on modern edge systems. We also analyze how performance is affected from the increased heat and identify preventative measures. We speculate that due to the technology being a recent innovation, research on cloud-edge devices and thermal attacks is scarce. Other research focuses on server systems rather than edge platforms. In our paper, we use a Raspberry Pi 4 and a CPU-intensive application to represent thermal attacks on cloud-edge systems. We performed several experiments with the Raspberry Pi 4 and used stress-ng, a benchmarking tool available on Linux distributions, to simulate the attacks. The resulting effects displayed drastic increases in the temperature and power consumption. The key impact of our research is to highlight the following risks and mitigation plans: the vulnerability of cloud-edge systems from thermal attacks, the capability for the attacks to go unnoticed, to further the understanding of edge devices as well as the prevention of these attacks

Composition in Theme and Variations Form
We decided to study theme and variations composition because we found that it is very relevant and applicable to what we are learning in our Music Theory class. Variations form is also accessible to listeners and beginning composers. We hope that after our presentation, those listening will feel more comfortable in listening to and creating their own piece Theme and Variations form is a standard form of musical composition where a simple, unembellished melody is used as a theme and then repeated several times with melodic, rhythmic, harmonic, or other variations. We will take a theme and variations piece, Mozart\u27s Ah! vous dirai je maman Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star KV 265, and analyze what the theme is, and how the composer used variations of that theme in the piece. We will demonstrate the variation form with an audio timeliner diagram and audio clip. After demonstrating the form, we will show how to compose a piece in variation form, using our own original composition

Spotify’s yearly wrapped report is extremely popular amongst its users. Unfortunately users must wait a year from every report to view statistics about their listening habits. Our app will allow users to generate reports displaying their top songs and artists whenever they want. Additionally, our app will allow users to generate recommendations for new music based on their favorite songs/artists. Users will also be able to generate advanced recommendations by inputting custom artists/genres/songs and customizing a variety of parameters such as the recommended song’s tempo, loudness, and danceability. Our app will give Spotify users the freedom to view statistics regarding their listening habits whenever they want. Additionally, users will never run out of new music to listen to due to the custom song recommendation feature of our app
INVESTIGATING DRILL CONSTRAINT KINEMATICS IN MALE BASEBALL PITCHERS USING MARKERLESS MOTION CAPTURE
This study investigated the kinematic differences that pitching constraint drills elicit compared to a baseball pitch. 18 male baseball pitchers with average height (183.7 ± 5.2cm), weight (87.4 ± 9.6kg), and skill level (Professional (4), Collegiate (5), High School (9)) were included. Video was recorded using a single camera from the open side. Each pitcher threw 3 maximum effort pitches from a mound. Next, 3 maximum effort throws were recorded for 8 different throwing drills: medicine ball hook’em drill, pivot pickoff drill, foot-up rocker drill, walk-in drill, towel drill, janitor drill, drop-step drill, and long toss. Videos were processed using pitchAITM, a markerless motion capture solution. The medicine ball hook’em drill was the most different to a pitch, and the towel drill was the most similar. This work demonstrates the first collective approach to studying the biomechanics of frequently used baseball pitching constraint drills
Smart & Savvy Students: Year 2
Smart & Savvy Students\u27 (SSS) main goal is to convert scientific psychological articles to understandable pieces of information for general audiences. We have a Twitter feed, Facebook page, and Instagram to spread the information to Clemson\u27s student body and other audiences that we post to 3 to 5 times a week. Each tweet contains a 140-character tip written in a dialogue format. The tweets include links to the Facebook page, which has more information. The Facebook page provides links to scientific sources that support our claims. These links provide students with the opportunity to learn more about the topics. In addition, we post to an Instagram account that links back to Facebook and Twitter, which allows us to spread our information to the largest audience possible. Using popular social media, SSS targets students by including information on topics such as study skills, exercise and diet, and healthy habits, which can be applied in day-to-day life for more positive lifestyles
Unobserved mortality occurs early in larval walleye (Sander vitreus) aquaculture
One of the most persistent challenges in walleye larviculture is the high rate of unobserved mortality occurring within the first 30 days post-hatch. Walleye larviculture is characterized by high mortality rates, but oftentimes, only a fraction of the total mortality in walleye larviculture is observed. Unobserved mortality is frequently attributed to a high rate of cannibalism, but decomposition of larvae and other factors may also be important contributors. Unobserved mortality can make walleye larviculture especially challenging as accurately estimating daily feed rations and forecasting larval production rely on accurate counts of surviving fish. Despite the importance of unobserved mortality, there is little empirical evidence available that assesses the temporal occurrence and causes of unobserved mortality in walleye larviculture. This study assessed when unobserved mortality occurs during walleye larviculture by examining survival at three timepoints (8, 15, and 30 days post-stocking). Tanks were cleaned daily and dead fry were enumerated to account for observed mortality. At the end of each treatment period, the tanks were drained, all remaining fry were enumerated, and the unobserved mortality rate was calculated. While observed mortality trended higher as trial duration increased, unobserved mortality did not increase significantly from the 8-day treatment suggesting that the bulk of unobserved mortality occurs during the first 8 days of walleye larviculture
State-Dependent Differences in Functional Connectivity in Young Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder
AbstractBackgroundWhile there is increasing evidence of altered brain connectivity in autism, the degree and direction of these alterations in connectivity and their uniqueness to autism has not been established. The aim of the present study was to compare connectivity in children with autism to that of typically developing controls and children with developmental delay without autism.MethodsWe assessed EEG spectral power, coherence, phase lag, Pearson and partial correlations, and epileptiform activity during the awake, slow wave sleep, and REM sleep states in 137 children aged 2 to 6years with autism (n=87), developmental delay without autism (n=21), or typical development (n=29).FindingsWe found that brain connectivity, as measured by coherence, phase lag, and Pearson and partial correlations distinguished children with autism from both neurotypical and developmentally delayed children. In general, children with autism had increased coherence which was most prominent during slow wave sleep.InterpretationFunctional connectivity is distinctly different in children with autism compared to samples with typical development and developmental delay without autism. Differences in connectivity in autism are state and region related. In this study, children with autism were characterized by a dynamically evolving pattern of altered connectivity
