El conflicto palestino-israelí visto desde España: oscilaciones y tendencias de la opinión pública

La globalización y la sociedad de la información han ayudado a que los ciudadanos descubran la importancia de los asuntos internacionales. Diferentes estudios muestran el creciente interés de los españoles por la política exterior y cómo el foco de atención se ha desplazado rápidamente de Europa y el Magreb hacia los países árabes. Entre todos los escenarios, el conflicto palestino-israelí destaca como una de las temáticas más recurrentes y debatidas de las últimas décadas. En los primeros apartados, el artículo presenta un breve recuento del contexto histórico, el discurso que ha defendido la derecha y la izquierda al respecto y los estereotipos más comunes que alberga el imaginario colectivo frente al mundo árabe y los judíos. Posteriormente, se comentan los resultados de diversas encuestas, barómetros de opinión y estudios internacionales, que dan luces sobre la evolución de la opinión pública española frente a la situación de Oriente Próximo. Al terminar el estudio se pudo comprobar que este contencioso es visto con más alarma por los ciudadanos españoles que por los del resto de países europeos o los de Estados Unidos y que en las simpatías por uno u otro bando han influido tanto el vacío diplomático con Israel hasta 1986, como el discurso de la “Tradicional amistad” y las relaciones con el mundo árabe.The globalization and the information society have helped people to discover the importance of international affairs. Different studies have shown the growing interest of the Spaniards in foreign policy and how the focus has moved quickly from Europe and the Maghreb to Arab countries. Among all scenarios, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the recurring themes that has been in debate for decades. The first part of the article is a brief retelling of the historical context, the discourse that has defended the right and left parties, and the most common stereotypes that holds the collective imagination towards the Arab world and towards the Jews. Subsequently, it discusses the results of various surveys, opinion barometers and international studies, giving lights on the evolution of Spanish public opinion to the situation in the Middle East. Once this study has been completed, it has been verified that this dispute is seen with more alarm in Spain than in the rest of Europe or the USA and that the sympathies for one side or the other have been influenced both by the diplomatic absence with Israel until 1986, as with the speech of the "traditional friendship" and the relations with the Arab world

The value of the cultural landscape as a teaching strategy

El Paisaje Cultural forma parte de los bienes que integran nuestro Patrimonio Cultural y, al igual que estos otros bienes de nuestra cultura, su tratamiento didáctico ofrece claras ventajas para la enseñanza de aprendizajes integradores e interdisciplinares. En este trabajo presentamos una propuesta didáctica de las posibilidades que tiene el Paisaje Cultural para la enseñanza de contenidos adscritos a las asignaturas de Historia, Geografía y Ciencias Naturales, así como sus facultades para trabajar procedimientos y destrezas e incentivar, además, actitudes de respeto y protección hacia nuestro Patrimonio.Our Cultural Landscape is part of the assets that make up our Cultural Heritage and, just like other assets of our culture, their didactic treatment offers clear advantages for the teaching of integrating and interdisciplinary learning. In this paper, we attempt to expose a didactic proposal of the possibilities that the Cultural Landscape may offer to the teaching of contents assigned to the subjects of History, Geography and Natural Sciences, as well as its faculties to work on processes and skills and furthermore encourage attitudes of respect and protection towards our Heritage.peerReviewe

Art-Based Healing Strategies in Colombia in the Context of Collective Trauma: A Literature Review

In Colombia, a country severely impacted by centuries of violence, many communities resorted to the use of art to overcome their collective trauma. The present research answers the question: “What is the existing literature that supports arts-based healing knowledge that has been developed in Colombia?” This research collects relevant data on the topic, gathered from professionals of different academic fields and reflects on it through an art therapy lens. Art-based healing strategies are reported in the literature associated with social and economic empowerment, reconnection of social fabric, transformation of social patterns and construction of hope. The present research highlights the ways in which art makes this possible. The findings of this paper build theoretical foundations that can be used in the integration of art-based healing strategies into existing therapeutic structures

Operational problems of Quality Schools Program in the state of Mexico 2001-2014

El presente artículo tiene como propósito mostrar las principales características bajo las cuales ha operado el Programa Escuelas de Calidad en el estado de México, realizando un balance genérico acerca de los beneficios que ha traído su implementación en el mejoramiento de la infraestructura de las escuelas públicas de educación básica, pero sobre todo, señalando las dificultades de planeación, organización y operación a las que se ha enfrentado, mismas que impiden que cumpla plenamente con su objetivo de contribuir a la formación de escuelas de calidad que incidan favorablemente en el logro educativo. Se da cuenta del potencial del programa para avanzar hacia una educación de mayor calidad, pero será necesario identificar los problemas a resolver, fortalecer la coordinación institucional y social, incentivar la autogestión escolar y evaluar los resultados para la implementación de mejoras

Forecasting Unemployment Rates with International Factors

In this paper we study international linkages when forecasting unemployment rates in a sample of 24 OECD economies. We propose a Global Unemployment Factor (GUF) and test its predictive ability considering in-sample and out-of-sample exercises. Our main results indicate that the predictive ability of the GUF is heterogeneous across countries. In-sample results are statistically significant for Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and United States. Robust statistically significant out-of-sample results are found for Belgium, Czech Republic, France, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden and the United States. This means that the inclusion of the GUF adds valuable information to predict domestic unemployment rates, at least for these last seven countries
