Fifteen Years A-Growing — A Plan for Evaluating Achievement.
How a plan of reporting progress and evaluating achievement has been developing through continuous experimenting for fifteen years is described by Amanda Hebeler, director of teacher training and principal of the College Elementary School, Central Washington College of Education, Ellensburg, Washington
New Schools for Old
It is always possible to effect compromises in the interest of health and hygiene but how much more sensible it is when new school buildings are to be constructed to plan the physical environment in such a way that healthful living is encouraged at all times and in all places. Ideally, such careful planning should release time and energy of both teachers and children for further creative living. Miss Hebeler, director of teacher training at the College Elementary School, Central Washington College of Education, Ellensburg, Washington, describes many of the details included in a new building designed particularly to encourage happy, healthful, home living
In Retrospect: In the Magic Circle
Two teachers, one in a junior high and the other in an education department of a college, find a vestige of experience from their childhood which they feel influenced them in their chosen profession
Study the children
A knowledge and understanding of the material with which one is to work, based on realistic and firsthand contacts, is accepted as part of an adequate program of preparation for any vocation. To that end, many teachers colleges are experimenting with programs which give young people many direct contacts with children. The way in which such experiences are a part of the total educational program at Central Washington College of Education, Ellensburg, Washington, is told by Mabel T. Anderson, instructor in child development, and Amanda Hebeler, director of teacher training
