    What Does it Take to Embed a Racial Equity & Inclusion Lens?

    This report seeks to inform the next phase of Living Cities' racial equity and inclusion work, and we hope it is useful to other organizations wrestling with how to better operationalize racial equity and inclusion in their own work.This report is the capstone project of the Racial Equity and Inclusion Learning Question Team. It captures themes from the team's field and internal scan, as well as what we have learned from our grantmaking and investments in cities across the country–what we call applied research, and seeks to inform the next phase of Living Cities' racial equity and inclusion work. We also hope that this report might be useful to other organizations wrestling with how to better operationalize racial equity and inclusion in their own work

    Improving Reading Comprehension in English for Nusantara: A Case Study

    This research investigates the effectiveness of using the textbook "English for Nusantara" for grade 7, to improve reading comprehension skills among students at Al-Amin Middle School in Palangka Raya City, Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach, utilizing questionnaires and student interviews to analyze how textbooks facilitate reading comprehension. This research focuses on a sample of 10 students and aims to identify the strengths and the content of "English for Nusantara" textbook in improving reading comprehension. This analysis will explore four main aspects: general attributes, teaching-learning content, vocabulary development, and grammatical understanding. The findings from this research will provide valuable insight the potential to be an effective tool for enhancing reading comprehension and the content of the book "English for Nusantara" from the views of Al-Amin Palangkaraya Middle School students and contribute to the ongoing dialogue about effective teaching of reading comprehension in secondary schools in Indonesia

    “Forent – Vehicle forensics for car rental system”

    Car rental agencies primarily serve people who require temporary vehicles. However, many car rental damage scam cases involving car renter fail to present any evidence and being unfairly charged, for the damage that did not happen during rental. Concerning the current car rental systems that only allow customers to inspect the physical condition of the car, the objective of this project is to develop a mobile application for car rental system, FoRent, that implements the car diagnostic features. Through this system, the car owner and car renter will be able to record the physical condition and retrieve forensic data of the car using ELM327 device, before signing the rental agreement. In order to reduce security risk, this project introduces a security protocol to provide the integrity and availability of the data in FoRent. Enhancing the existing paper-and-pen car rental system, FoRent is remarkable as it introduces these special features that meet the requirement of the car rental company and customers

    The relevance of Al-Farabi’s classification of knowledge in the modern higher educational institution: the case of Malaysia

    Al-Farabi is a great Muslim scholar who had contributed to the development of knowledge. This can be seen from his work on ‘Enumeration of science’, where he classified knowledge into several divisions. This study employed an analytical approach in analyzing his writing of the ‘Enumeration of the Sciences’ as well as to compare, contrast and to conclude its relevance and implication towards the selected current higher educational institutions in Malaysia. It is found that first, al-Farabi classified knowledge based on philosophical approach. Second, his classification suits the need of the higher educational institution in Malaysia

    SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Seroprevalence in Jakarta, Indonesia

    The SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics in low- and middle-income countries remain poorly understood. This study aimed to estimate the SARS-CoV-2 antibodies seroprevalence in Jakarta, Indonesia, and to increase knowledge of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in urban settings. A population-based serosurvey among individuals aged one year or older was conducted in Jakarta. Employing a multistage sampling design, samples were stratified by district, slum, and non-slum residency, sex, and age group. Blood samples were tested for IgG against three different SARS-CoV-2 antigens. Seroprevalence was estimated after applying sample weights and adjusting for cluster characteristics. In March 2021, this study collected 4,919 respondents. The weighted estimate of seroprevalence was 44.5% (95% CI = 42.5-46.5). Seroprevalence was highest among adults aged 30-49 years, with higher seroprevalence in women and the overweight/obese group. Respondents residing in slum areas were 1.3-fold more likely to be seropositive than non-slum residents. It was estimated that4,717,000 of Jakarta's 10.6 million residents had prior SARS-CoV-2 infection. This suggests that approximately 10 infections were undiagnosed/underreported for every reported case. About one year after the first COVID-19 case was confirmed, close to half of Jakarta's residents have been infected by SARS-CoV-2

    Pengaruh Metode Mendongeng Terhadap Keterampilan Menyimak Dongeng Pada Siswa Kelas Ii Di Sd Dharma Karya Ut Pondok Cabe, Tangerang Selatan Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode mendongeng terhadap keterampilan menyimak dongeng pada siswa kelas II di SD Dharma Karya UT, Pondok Cabe, Tangerang Selatan, Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode Quasi Eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II.3 (kelas kontrol) dan kelas II.4 (kelas eksperimen) SD Dharma Karya UT yang masing-masing berjumlah 22 siswa. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa tes non-objektif (essay). Teknik analisis data menggunakan bantuan program SPSS 22 For Windows. Berdasarkan rata-rata hasil posttest diperoleh rata-rata posttest keterampilan menyimak dongeng siswa dengan menggunakan metode mendongeng (kelas eksperimen) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan rata-rata posttest keterampilan menyimak dongeng siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional (kelas kontrol). Rata-rata pretest kelas eksperimen adalah 60,45, rata-rata pretes kelas kontrol adalah 60,00. Setelah dilakukan tindakan pada kedua kelas, maka diperoleh rata-rata posttest kelas eksperimen adalah 77,73 dan kelas kontrol adalah 71,59. Jumlah peningkatan rata-rata hasil pretest dan posttest kelas eksperimen sebesar 17,28%, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 11,59%. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t dengan teknik Independent T-test, diperoleh thitung sebesar 0,010 pada taraf signifikansi &#945; < 0,050. Dengan demikian Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima karena 0,010 < 0,050. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa metode mendongeng berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menyimak dongeng siswa

    Artikel ini membahas bagaimana implementasi akad mudharabah dalam praktik perbankan syariah serta bagaimana posisi akad mudharabah dalam fiqh dan bagaimana skema akad mudharabah muthlaqah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kedudukan akad mudharabah dalam fiqh dan praktik akad mudharabah di perbankan syariah. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa akad mudharabah muthlaqah merupakan kerjasama antara pemilik dana atau investor (shahib al-mal / rabb al-mal / investor) yaitu nasabah dan pengelola modal (mudharib) yaitu Bank Syariah untuk melakukan usaha atas dasar bagi hasil . Keuntungan mudharabah akan dibagi sesuai dengan kesepakatan yang sudah disepakati kedua belah pihak. Jika terjadi kerugian maka kerugian tersebut ditanggung oleh pemilik modal atau nasabah dalam kasus ini, dengan ketentuan jika kerugian bukan karena kesalahan mudhorib. Dalam hal ini, jika terjadi perselisihan antara pemilik harta dengan orang yang diserahi amanah berkaitan dengan harta tersebut, maka perkataan yang diterima adalah perkataan orang yang diserahi amanah kecuali yang diserahi menyalahi realita dan kebiasaan. Karena pemilik harta telah mempercayakan harta kepadanya dan telah menposisikannya seperti dirinya

    This article discusses how the implementation of the mudharabah contract in Islamic banking practices and the position of the mudharabah contract in fiqh and the scheme of the mudharabah muthlaqah contract. The purpose of this study was to determine the position of the mudharabah contract in fiqh and the practice of the mudharabah contract in Islamic banking. The results of this study reveal that the mudharabah muthlaqah contract is a collaboration between the owner of the funds or investors (shahib al-mal / rabb al-mal / investors) namely customers and capital managers (mudharib) namely Islamic banks to conduct business on the basis of profit sharing. Mudharabah profits will be divided according to the agreement that has been agreed by both parties. If a loss occurs, the loss is borne by the owner of the capital or the customer in this case, provided that the loss is not due to the mudhorib's fault. In this case, if there is a dispute between the owner of the property and the person entrusted with the mandate regarding the property, then the words received are the words of the person entrusted with the mandate, except for those entrusted to them that violate reality and habits. Because the owner of the property has entrusted the property to him and has positioned it like himself
