Pluralism in crisis: Transformations of the spanish DTT market in the context of the recession
[Abstract]: This article discusses the most significant aspects of DTT’s evolution in Spain since the analogue switch-off in April 2010. It underscores the severe cutbacks affecting public-service television broadcasters and their impact, as well as a return to government control over the Spanish Broadcasting Corporation (RTVE) in particular. It also emphasises the major tendency towards concentration in the national private DTT market and the inviability of most regional and local broadcasters. All of these issues are analysed from the perspective of their worrying impact on pluralism.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación; CSO2010-1789
Digital terrestrial television roll-out policies in Spain and the changing television scene in the context of analogue switch-off
[Abstract]: This article describes and analyses the digital terrestrial television roll-out polices developed and applied in Spain by conservative and socialist governments (Partido Popular [1996–2004] and Partido Socialista Obrero Español [2004–2010], respectively) from the end of the 1990s until the analogue switch-off in April 2010. It also considers, from national, regional and local perspectives, the implications of this digitalization process for the terrestrial television scene in Spain. Finally, it points to a number of pending public policy issues and potential market trends. As a result of this process, Spain has become one of the first large Western European countries with a predominantly terrestrial television model to switch off analogue broadcasts
Home is where the (He) art is: Margaret Anderson and Isadora Duncan, two undomesticated art lovers
The purpose of this essay is to bring together the autobiographies of two remarkable women
who developed their artistic talents in the first decades of the 20th century: Margaret C.
Anderson, the editor of The Little Review, and Isadora Duncan, the innovative dancer. The
analysis of their life narratives shows how, beyond temporal coincidence, and an independent attitude towards social conventions, both women shared a rejection of established canons of family life which led them to portray a model of domesticity quite different to that
expected by Victorian standards. This is especially reflected in their particular attitude towards the places and houses they inhabited, in their manifold travels —both of them embarked on a life-changing journey to Europe, and in their economic mismanagement. Theirs
was a constant longing for art and beauty, which may explain why they present a different
model of womanhood from that of the women of their tim
Where to internationalise and why: Country selection by restaurant franchises
This paper analyses the factors that influence the selection of markets, as well as the process developed in the
first stages of internationalization of small and medium-sized franchises.
A multiple case study in the restaurant sector in Spain is carried out. The analysis identifies market opportunity, physical and cultural distance, availability of optimal locations, and emotional factors as the main criteria
in selecting countries. Regarding the process, most of companies initially follow an opportunistic approach, with
the franchisee initiating the contact, evolving later to a strategic approach, with the company initiating the
search for the partner in the selected country.

Communication presented by members of the Library of the University Center of Mérida in the III Conference of G9 Libraries on good practices in attention to spaces and users, organized by the UCLM Library Service in Almagro (Ciudad Real) on days 3 and 4 of October 2019
Activity developed for the European Night of Researchers 2018.
The participants, children between 10 and 14 years old, in groups of 5, had to discover who the secret investigator was. To do this, they had to search for words in books, solving puzzles, crosswords, puzzles, questions to infiltrated collaborators, decipher words using Morse code, ... and the resolution of the great final test and thus be able to open the chest with the treasure.
In this way, it helped to promote reading and the scientific base from a playful perspective in children, making an opening to society and promoting collaboration with scientific dissemination
Removal of copper from aqueous solutions by biosorption onto pine sawdust
Untreated Pinus radiata sawdust was investigated for the removal of Cu+2 ions from aqueous solutions. The biomass was characterized by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass (ICP-MS) spectrometry and by Scanning Electron Microscopy with an Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), X-Ray crystalline powder Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, before and after adsorption. The influence of contact time (up to equilibrium), adsorbent dose (1–50 g/L), initial metal ion concentration (5–300 mg/L) and pH (2–8) on copper sorption efficiency was studied through batch experiments. The results demonstrated that adsorption equilibrium is reached in less than 2 h and the best conditions (Cu+2 removal percentage, 93.4% and adsorption capacity, 0.82 mg/g) were achieved by increasing the adsorbent dose up to 5 g/L and the solution pH up to 7, and decreasing the initial metal concentration to 5 mg/L. The adsorption was optimized by means of a Doehlert experimental design analyzing the influence of adsorbent dose (5–15 g/L) and copper initial concentration (5–45 mg/L) on adsorption efficiency. Kinetic data were satisfactorily fitted to the second-order kinetic model. Intraparticle diffusion model demonstrated that different stages are involved in the adsorption process. Langmuir isotherms fitted satisfactorily the copper bioadsorption equilibrium data. Desorption studies achieved high efficiencies up to 94.5% and the possibility of sawdust regeneration was studied with four adsorption-desorption cycles. Thus, this study evidenced that sawdust is a promising efficient, renewable and economic adsorbent for metal removal and its use for that purpose constitutes an alternative for its management and valorizationThis research was funded by Consellería de Educación, Universidade e Formación Profesional, Xunta de Galicia, grant number ED431B 2020/39S

Order of maturation of the components of the working memory from childhood to emerging adulthood
The objective of this paper was to analyze the maturation order of WM components Phonological loop (PL), Visuo-spatial Sketchpad (VSS) and Central executive (CE), from childhood to emerging adulthood in subjects aged between 6 and 29 years, by means of Bonferroni comparisons between the direct scores of the different age groups. The WM direct scores were obtained with the Working Memory Test Battery for Children (WMTBC). Linear regressions between age and Z-scores of the direct scores of the three components of the WM were carried out. The results indicate that the different components of WM are linearly related to age, from 6 to 15 years old, replicating previously obtained results. ANOVA and Bonferroni-type comparisons show that there is a different order of maturation among the components that make up the WM, with the central executive being the component that matures later. A peculiar result was observed in the 16–17-year group for PL and CE. This group presents a significant difference with all the groups of lower age
Evidence of thrust faulting and widespread contraction of Ceres
The surface of the dwarf planet Ceres is considered to be
dominated by geological processes typical of small bodies or
medium-sized icy bodies, such as impact cratering
; there are
also features of putative cryovolcanic origin as well as those
related to flow of near-surface ice. Extensional features
include regional linear troughs, fractures and pit chains, fractures associated with impact craters and with crater floors,
and polygonal craters whose walls seem to be structurally
controlled. However, no contractional features, which are
related to thrust fault activity more typical of large silicate
bodies, have been described. Here we report the presence of scarps, ridges and fractures associated with thrust
faults, tectonically raised terrains and thrusted craters—all
contractional features. These structures closely resemble
thrust-fault-related lobate scarps on Mercury and Mars,
albeit with lower displacement. They seem more abundant
in high-latitude ancient terrains, perhaps owing to illumination effects that aid identification. The observed deformation
implies that the crustal material is stronger than water ice but
weaker than silicate rocks, consistent with our current knowledge of crustal composition12 and rheology. These features
suggest that large-scale contraction, possibly related to differentiation processes, occurred in the history of Ceres
