VERBALIZATION OF “FAMILY” AS A CULTURAL NOTION IN THE NOVELS “WAR AND PEACE” BY L. TOLSTOY AND “IN CHANCERY” BY J. GALSWORTHY

Purpose: The paper is devoted to the study of verbalizing the social and cultural notion "family" in the second volume of the novel “War and Peace” by L. Tolstoy and the novel “In Chancery” by J. Galsworthy. It describes the stylistic devices enabling to realize positive and negative connotative components of the meaning of linguistic units verbalizing the notion “family”. Methodology: In order to achieve the goal of our research we conducted a thorough comparative analysis of the texts of the works under study. Result: The results of our study allow us to draw a conclusion regarding the linguistic means enabling to realize ameliorative and pejorative connotative components in the meaning of the word “family” used in combination with it. Furthermore, the evidence from this study allowed us to compare the images of the British and Russian in the studied works represented by the analyzed linguistic means. Applications: This research can be used for universities, teachers, and students. Novelty/Originality: In this research, the model of Verbalization of “Family” as a Cultural Notion in the Novels “War and Peace” BY L. Tolstoy and “In Chancery” by J. Study of the membrane-extraction properties of O-hexyl-(N,N-di-2-ethylhexyl)methylphosphonic acid

Toxic action of petroleum and oil processing products on Daphnia magna straus

The kinetics of spontaneous transformations in crude oil (forming fractions and film, sorption, evaporation) in the aquatic medium was under laboratory studies. There have been stated the degrees of toxicity of crude oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline (petrol) to laboratory culture of D. magna. Bioassays with daphnia may be recommended to reveal the presence of petroleum and products of its processing in the water

Leadership in the university student environment: How to become a person-oriented leader

© 2018 International Journal of Instruction. Currently there is a vital need to teach youth to demonstrate leadership skills as well as to work in the competitive market environment. This article is devoted to the problem of leadership training among university students. The sample included 474 students of Kazan Federal University. The project was based on the use of person-oriented interaction between the university tutors and students to help young people overcome the barriers to develop leadership qualities while being engaged in the organizational activities. In the first phase, the participants' levels of leadership qualities, organizational inclination, and communication skills were determined. The experimental stage was aimed at teaching student organizers create a positive atmosphere in the group being guided by the principles of person-oriented interaction between a leader and his followers. The experiment has demonstrated that collaboration of people with a high level of leadership qualities and those ones with a low level of leadership qualities do not give positive results. Collaboration with the university tutors gave support to the student participants and helped them develop the traits of a leader
