    No full text
The primary objective of the current study was to determine how job satisfaction effects the job performance of sugar industrial workers in Bangladesh. Moreover, this study examined the level of job satisfaction of employees in Bangladesh’s sugar industrial estate. In this quantitative study, respondents filled out a pre-structured questionnaire. The stratified random sampling approach was used to select 300 respondents from five sugar mills in the sugar industry. Job Performance Indicator (JPI), an 8-item self-rated performance scale, was used to assess job performance, and job satisfaction was measured using the JSI (Job Satisfaction Index). A regression analysis was performed using SPSS software for this study. Initially, reliability statistics were calculated for both scales in order to assess their relevance. The study’s findings showed a strong relationship between employee job satisfaction and job performance. The survey also showed that, compared to respondents’ personal characteristics, job-related factors had a greater impact on job performance. Furthermore, based on the findings of the study, job satisfaction among sugar sector workers in Bangladesh does not significantly differ by qualifications or age. In addition, the study found that foremen had a greater knowledge of the worksite than workers with less experience. However, the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant. There is strong evidence that employee satisfaction varies based on employee category. To improve job satisfaction and performance, the results and findings will be useful for the government, policymakers, and personnel departments of Bangladesh’s sugar mills. To make organizational decisions and policies about job satisfaction and job performance, it can be used to measure job satisfaction and the impact of job performance

The current crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the global economy hard, causing significant damage to every aspect of the global banking system, and Bangladesh is no exception. For that reason, its performance and profitability have been affected. In this study, we investigate the impact of COVID-19 on the financial performance and profitability of the listed private commercial banks in Bangladesh. We initially compute each bank’s financial performance index (FPI) to determine the position according to their financial performance individually before and the current period of COVID-19 by the standardized CAMELS rating system. After assessing the position, the fixed-effect regression model is used to explore the impact of the bank’s specific variables and macroeconomic variables along with the banks’ variables on the banks’ profitability. The banks that performed better during the pre-pandemic period of COVID-19 also performed better during the pandemic period of COVID-19. The performance of AIBL, EBL, and BBL was almost autonomously higher during both periods. In the case of bank profitability, our paper discovered that during the pandemic period of COVID-19, high non-performing loan rates, holding more liquid assets, a high amount of hedging capital, and inappropriate bank size lessened the banks’ profitability. In contrast, a low leverage position and inflation rate enhanced the bank’s profitability during this period. The outcome of this study will help bank authorities detect the loopholes and take preventive measures that can improve their profitability during a crisis period like COVID-19. The investors and depositors who invest money in banks can precisely decide their portfolios

    No full text
This study aimed to evaluate whether green human resource management practice encourages prospective candidates to join environmentally responsible enterprises through organizational reputation and corporate social responsibility. The sample was gathered from 402 students from various universities in Bangladesh using a pre-structured questionnaire. The link between the latent components has been explained by analyzing the obtained data using the Partial Least Squares Method (PLSM) of Structural equation Modeling (SEM). The findings indicated that green human resources management has a positive relationship with job pursuit intention and organizational reputation and that corporate social responsibility plays a significant mediating role in this relationship. Students studying in universities in Bangladesh reported having higher job pursuit intentions towards organizations that practice environmental responsibility. The results also show that green human resource management is a source for luring graduated students to pursue careers in green firms and will enable practitioners to combine green human resource management with their conventional human resource practices to employ qualified applicants. The results provide valuable insights into the nature of green human resource management and how the top management is committed to green initiatives in an emerging economy like Bangladesh. Also, the results will help the top management understand how to use green human resource management projects to create corporate social responsibility initiatives and an excellent corporate reputation and attract highly qualified, socially responsible employees to improve environmental performance in organizations. The national policymakers may also get input in designing a green human resource management policy for the economy. Bangladesh is a climate-vulnerable country with a minimal practice of green human resource management in the economy, so the empirical findings of this study will attract researchers, academicians, and practitioners of human resource management to carry out further research in the economy of this area. Finally, this study contributes to the body of knowledge in the still-emerging subject of green human resource management by empirically showing worthy outcomes
