On Context-Aware Publish-Subscribe
Complex communication patterns often need to take into account the characteristics of the environment, or the situation, in which the information to be communicated is produced or consumed. Publish-subscribe, and particularly its content-based incarnation, is often used to convey this information by encoding the âcontext â of the publisher into the published messages, taking advantage of the expressiveness of content-based addressing to encode context-aware communication patterns. In this paper we claim that this approach is both inadequate and inefficient and propose a context-aware publish-subscribe model of communication as a better alternative. In particular, we describe the API of a new publish-subscribe model that is both content and context-based, and we explore possible routing schemas to implement this new model in a distributed publish-subscribe system potentially improving traditional content-based routing
Resistance to Change Processes and Strategies for the Implementation of Harmonization Reforms: The Separation of the Health Care Expenditure in the Regional Financial Statements
The Legislative Decree n. 118/2011, in setting the rules for the harmonization of the financial accounting of the local governments, represents a further progress for the accounting process also for the health care. In the specific case the article 20 defines a precise identification perimeter of revenue and expenditure related with National Health Service (NHS) by the regulations in the regional financial statements, in a way to make possible an immediate comparability between the Health Care incomes and expenditures in the Regional financial statement. The aim of this paper, always referred to the Rational Management based on financial statement, focuses the attention on the possible correlation between organizational responses to institutional pressure and the theoretical roles of accounting, tracing lines of best practices compliance or not on the sample above explained
“Bit Standard”- Bitcoin between reality and risks of a “halfway-money”
This work provides an explanation of the market underlying the evolution due to modern technologies and technical advances, especially in transactions. In this regard, the authors specify the aspect related to the creation of virtual currencies like bitcoin that can circulate thanks to the Blockchain system through miners\u2019 work. The authors consider areas related to the warnings on the use and exchange of virtual currencies. The aim is to conceptualize in a graphical way the current operational transaction in bitcoin through the existing exchange platforms. The authors try to attest the fickleness of the disintermediation ideal founding Bitcoin. The analysis purposed could be interesting and useful to provide a kind of interpretation of the phenomenon and a general overview about Bitcoin system
Solvent nature effect in preparation of perovskites by flame pyrolysis: 1: carboxylic acids
The effect of a series of carboxylic acids (C(2)-C(8)), as solvents for the preparation by flame spray pyrolysis of LaCoO(3) catalyst for the flameless combustion of methane, has been investigated. Acetic acid showed to be unsatisfactory from several points of view: low phase purity of the catalyst, higher amount of unburnt carbonaceous residua, lower catalytic activity and low thermal stability. By increasing the carbon chain length of the solvent, the consequent increase of flame temperature led to an increase of crystal phase purity and of particle size and to a decrease of specific surface area of the catalyst. Catalytic activity showed only marginally affected by the last parameter, phase purity seeming more important. Thermal resistance showed directly related to flame temperature, i.e. to the combustion enthalpy of the solvent, but a relatively high amount of residual organic matter can negatively affect this property
Solvent nature effect in preparation of perovskites by flame pyrolysis: 2 : Alcohols and alcohols plus propionic acid mixtures
The effect of either pure alcohols or alcohols + propionic acid mixtures as solvents for the preparation by flame pyrolysis of a standard LaCoO3 catalyst, to be employed for the catalytic flameless combustion of methane, has been investigated. All the catalysts proved very active for the mentioned reaction. Low-MW pure alcohols showed however less suitable than alcohols-propionic acid mixtures, leading to lower perovskite phase purity, less particle size homogeneity and lower specific surface area. The high volatility of the solvent seems to be the major cause, together with the improper behaviour of nitrates (forced by solubility reasons) as perovskite metals precursors. However, the addition of propionic acid to the alcohols allowed to use the acetates as precursors and hence to obtain high perovskitic phase purity, high SSA and Uniform particle size. Moreover, the increase of combustion enthalpy of the solvent, through the addition of higher-MW alcohols, leading to progressively higher flame temperature, strongly improved the thermal resistance of the catalyst, without lowering catalytic performance
Extended-spectrum TEM- and SHV- Type beta-lactamase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains causing Outbreaks in Intensive Care Units in Italy.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESbetaLs) and the epidemiological correlations in a total of 107 Klebsiella pneumoniae strains resistant to third- and fourth-generation cephalosporins. The strains were collected from patients in four intensive care units (3 neonatal and 1 general) in three hospitals in Italy between March 1996 and July 1997. All strains were found to produce ESbetaLs. Phenotypic (antibiotyping and ESbetaL patterns) and genotypic (plasmid profile and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis) analyses showed that a single strain had been responsible for each outbreak in each of the four intensive care units. Isoelectric focusing, activity on substrates and gene sequencing showed that the strains produced SHV-5, SHV-2a, SHV-12 and TEM-52 beta-lactamases. This is not only the first time that ESbetaL-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains have been reported as causing epidemics in Italian hospitals, it is also, to the best of our knowledge, the first time that an outbreak caused by a TEM-52 ESbetaL-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strain has been reported. The data presented here illustrate the complexity of determining the epidemiological pattern of ESbetaL producers in large hospitals that do not have an ESbetaL-monitoring program

The aim of this study was to report emission factors of pollutants (i.e., carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, non-methane hydrocarbons, particulate matter, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins) from biomass burning residential heating appliances. The influence of several factors such as biomass type, appliance and combustion cycle was investigated. Four manually fed (6-11 kW) firewood burning and two automatic wood pellets (8.8-25 kW) appliances were tested under real-world operating conditions in order to determine the actual environmental performance of the appliance. The experimental EFs were also compared with the values proposed by the European emission inventory guidebook used in the local inventory in order to evaluate their representativeness of real world emissions.
The composite macropollutant EFs for manually fed appliances are: for CO 5858 g GJ-1, for NOx 122 g GJ-1, NMHC 542 g GJ-1, PM 254 g GJ-1, whereas emissions are much lower for automatic pellets appliances: CO 219 g GJ-1, for NOx 66 g GJ-1, NMHC 5 g GJ-1, PM 85 g GJ-1. The open fireplace appears to have very high emission factors, however traditional and advanced stoves show the highest overall CO EFs. Especially for the advanced stove real-world emissions are far worse than those measured under cycles used for type testing of residential solid fuel appliances. No great difference is observed for different firewood types in batch working appliances, diversely the quality of the pellets is observed to influence directly the emission performance of the automatic appliances. Benzo(b)fluoranthene is the PAH with the highest contribution (110 mg GJ-1 for manual appliances and 2 mg GJ-1 for automatic devices) followed by benzo(a)pyrene (77 mg GJ-1 for manual appliances and 0,8 mg GJ-1 for automatic devices)
Contrasting responses of forest growth and carbon sequestration to heat and drought in the Alps
>Climate change is expected to increase both the frequency and the intensity of climate extremes, consequently increasing the risk of forest role transition from carbon sequestration to carbon emission. These changes are occurring more rapidly in the Alps, with important consequences for tree species adapted to strong climate seasonality and short growing season. In this study, we aimed at investigating the responses of a high-altitude Larix decidua Mill. forest to heat and drought, by coupling ecosystem- and tree-level measurements. From 2012 to 2018, ecosystem carbon and water fluxes (i.e., gross primary production, net ecosystem exchange, and evapotranspiration) were measured by means of the eddy covariance technique, together with the monitoring of canopy development (i.e., larch phenology and normalized difference vegetation index). From 2015 to 2017 we carried out additional observations at the tree level, including stem growth and its duration, direct phenological observations, sap flow, and tree water deficit. Results showed that the warm spells in 2015 and 2017 caused an advance of the phenological development and, thus, of the seasonal trajectories of many processes, at both tree and ecosystem level. However, we did not observe any significant quantitative changes regarding ecosystem gas exchanges during extreme years. In contrast, in 2017 we found a reduction of 17% in larch stem growth and a contraction of 45% of the stem growth period. The growing season in 2017 was indeed characterized by different drought events and by the highest water deficit during the study years. Due to its multi-level approach, our study provided evidence of the independence between C-source (i.e., photosynthesis) and C-sink (i.e., tree stem growth) processes in a subalpine larch forest
