An investigation on the impacts of density currents on the sedimentation in dam reservoirs using TCM model; case study: Maroon dam

Sedimentation in dams\u27 reservoirs is one of the most pressing concerns facing dams today. Maroon reservoir dam, located in Khuzestan Province, is one of the most important dams in this region. Since it is a new constructed dam, numerical simulation of sedimentation trend in its reservoirs could significantly help on a better utilization. To this end, TCM model which is capable to simulate density currents was used. The obtained results show that the dam loses about 91 million m3 of its reservoirs during a 50-year exploitation period

The effect of degradation on seismic damage of RC buildings

The severity of seismic damage of reinforced concrete buildings depends on the tectonic characteristics of area, seismic features of ground motion, quality and quantity of buildings. One of the most important factor\u27s, affecting the seismic damage, is the degrading rate of building. Degradation of stiffness and strength are the parameters, which their effect on the seismic damage of buildings are investigated, using an inelastic dynamic analysis. The buildings which are studied are moment resisting RC frames. In order to study the inelastic dynamic behavior of these buildings, IDARC software is used. Based on the obtained results, 40% degradation of strength or 50% degradation of stiffness will cause severe structural damage in the buildings

Routing of rivers which flow through the important areas is from the important river engineering measures. In this research, flood routing in the Maroon River has been studied bases on hydrometric stations between Behbahan and Chamnezam. Todays, numerical computer methods are developed for the Cent and Nante equations. The HEC-RAS software and Muskingum and Muskingum - corners methods are used for this work. HEC-RAS model with solving of dynamic equations motion simulates unsteady flow in the form of onedimensional flow in open channels. After calibration and testing, the results of these methods were compared. So, the HEC-RAS model results considerably better match with the observational data
