Correlates of business priorities for small and medium sized businesses: Implications for sustainable development in Nigeria
Small and medium sized businesses (SMSBs) share certain attributes such as forms of business, centralisation of decision-making and use of labour-intensive production method. In spite of these common characteristics, they have dissimilar business priorities. With these thoughts in mind, it was considered intellectually-stimulating to examine the factors that interplay in setting the business priorities of SMSBs in Nigeria; this was the focus of the research. Using a quantitative survey research design, data was obtained from SMSB entrepreneurs in South-west Nigeria. Statistics such as Mean, T-test, correlation, regression and Kruskal Wallis tests were utilized for data analyses. Empirical findings were that size, resource availability, stage of organisational cycle, and challenges faced influence priority setting and ordering by SMSBs. Relevant stakeholders are encouraged to intensify efforts to address challenges facing SMSB, as benefits arising from their reinvigoration are expected to positively rub off on sustainable development in Nigeria
Profitability Ratios and Market Price of Share of Selected Firms in Quoted Nigeria Agriculture and Agro-Allied Firms: After adoption of International Financial Reporting Standard
This study examined the connection between Return on Asset, Return on Equity and Return on Investment Ratios with Nigerian Agriculture and Agro-Allied Quoted firms Market Price of Share after the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standard from 2012 to 2016. This study used multiple regression analysis and the analysis is limited to the use of data taken from the selected firms’ financial statement from 2012 to 2016. The result shows that Return on Asset, Return on Equity and Return on Investment ratios are positively and significantly related to Nigerian Agriculture and Agro-Allied Quoted firms Market Price of Share. Also it was found that the Return on Asset ratio and Nigerian Agriculture and Agro-Allied Quoted firms Market Price of Share positively related separately. The Return on Equity ratio and Nigerian Agriculture and Agro-Allied Quoted firms Market Price of Share are also positively related separately. Finally the Return on Equity and Return on Investment Ratios with Nigerian Agriculture and Agro-Allied Quoted firms Market Share Price
