Magnetic phase transition in superconducting Sr2YRu0.95Cu0.05O6 observed by the 99Ru Mo¨ssbauer effect
[[abstract]]99Ru Mössbauer effect measurements at 4.2, 23, 30, and 40 K show that the hyperfine magnetic field vanishes near 30 K, lower than the superconducting onset temperature of 45 K in Sr2YRu0.95Cu0.05O6. The data confirm that superconductivity and homogeneous magnetic order coexist. The hyperfine magnetic field measured at 4.2 K is 58.5(0.8) T. The well-resolved set of 18 lines in the 4.2 K measurement enabled a determination of a new value, -0.293(0.005) nm, for the nuclear magnetic moment of the 3/2 state of 99Ru. The isomer shift in this compound was measured to be 0.13(0.01) mm/s and it is consistent with a +5 charge state of Ru.[[journaltype]]國外[[incitationindex]]SCI[[booktype]]紙本[[countrycodes]]US
Data recording and analysis of American sign language
American Sign Language (ASL) is a form of communication that is used by the Deaf. It consists of hand shapes and gestures to express words and phrases. Translators on the market today consist of interpreting a simple form of ASL known as finger spelling. In order to develop a more effective translator, instrumentation was developed utilizing a Flock of Birds and Cyberglove system to record in hand shapes and movements in a LabVIEW environment. Experimentation done included reading in data and subjectively analyzing the data recorded for accuracy. Initial results have show that the instrumentation worked and data was recorded successfully
Angular spin-orbit coupling in cold atoms
We propose coupling two internal atomic states using a pair of Raman beams
operated in Laguerre-Gaussian laser modes with unequal phase windings. This
generates a coupling between the atom's pseudo-spin and its orbital angular
momentum. We analyze the single-particle properties of the system using
realistic parameters and provide detailed studies of the spin texture of the
ground state. Finally, we consider a weakly interacting atomic condensate
subject to this angular spin-orbit coupling and show how the inter-atomic
interactions modifies the single-particle physics.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
