Generic PLM system for SMEs: Application to an equipment manufacturer
For several years, digital engineering has increasingly taken a more important place in the strategic issues of mechanical engineering companies. Our proposition is an approach that enables technical data to be managed and used throughout the product life-cycle. This approach aims to provide assistance for costing, development and industrialization of the product, and for the capitalization, the reuse and the extension of fundamental knowledge. This approach has been experimented within several companies. This paper presents the case in a company environment that designs and produces families of ship equipment parts
QUOTATION FOR THE VALUE ADDED ASSESSMENT DURING PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION PROCESSES
This communication is based on an original approach linking economical factors to technical and methodological ones. This work is applied to the decision process for mix production. This approach is relevant for costing driving systems. The main interesting point is that the quotation factors (linked to time indicators for each step of the industrial process) allow the complete evaluation and control of, on the one hand, the global balance of the company for a six-month period and, on the other hand, the reference values for each step of the process cycle of the parts. This approach is based on a complete numerical traceability and control of the processes (design and manufacturing of the parts and tools, mass production). This is possible due to numerical models and to feedback loops for cost indicator analysis at design and production levels. Quotation is also the base for the design requirements and for the choice and the configuration of the production process. The reference values of the quotation generate the base reference parameters of the process steps and operations. The traceability of real values (real time consuming, real consumable) is mainly used for a statistic feedback to the quotation application. The industrial environment is a steel sand casting company with a wide mix product and the application concerns both design and manufacturing. Integration of CAD and rapid manufacturing for sand casting optimisation
International audienceIn order to reduce the time and costs of the products development in the sand casting process, the SMC Colombier Fontaine company has carried out a study based on tooling manufacturing with a new rapid prototyping process. This evolution allowed the adequacy of the geometry used for the simulation to the tooling employed physically in the production. This allowed a reduction of the wall thickness to 4?mm and retained reliable manufacturing process

Concurrent Cost Engineering for decisional and operational process enhancement in a foundry
International audienceA company needs to attract new customers by reducing their production costs, controlling the process risks and developing differentiation factors. This scientific contribution is based on methodological propositions and deployments using concurrent cost engineering. Therefore, the bases of this paper are to understand the economical factors, their place within the industrial processes and to propose methodological solutions for a full cost engineering integration in the sand casting process, from negotiations to customer delivery. The approach is based on product and process definition, cost evaluation assistance, production impact simulation, process performance enhancement and total digital traceability for parts and tooling in a steel sand casting foundry

La fonderie française fait face Ă la concurrence de pays Ă©mergeants qui s'appuient sur des rĂšgles diffĂ©rentes en matiĂšre de lĂ©gislations fiscales, sociales et environnementales. L'arrivĂ©e de ces nouveaux entrants diminue le nombre et la rentabilitĂ© des nouvelles affaires, modifiant ainsi l'Ă©quilibre financier des entreprises.pour rester compĂ©titive, la fonderie française a besoin d'attirer de nouveaux clients, en diminuant ses coĂ»ts de revient, en maĂźtrisant les risques liĂ©s aux procĂ©dĂ©s et en dĂ©veloppant des facteurs de diffĂ©rentiations (qualitĂ©, innovation, rĂ©activitĂ©, etc.). La voie scientifique et de progrĂšs repose sur la proposition et le dĂ©ploiement de mĂ©thodologies mettant en oeuvre les technologies d'ingĂ©nierie numĂ©rique. Ce travail de thĂšse se positionne donc dans le souci de comprendre quels sont les verrous qui freinent le dĂ©ploiement de ces technologies et de proposer des solutions mĂ©thodologiques pour leurs intĂ©grations tout au long du processus d'Ă©laboration du produit en fonderie, depuis la nĂ©gociation jusqu'Ă la livraison client. Nous proposons une nouvelle approche globale, basĂ©e sur la dĂ©finition du produit et de son processus de fabrication, pour l'Ă©valuation des coĂ»ts complets, la simulation des impacts logistique et financier d'une commande, le dĂ©veloppement rapide de produit, l'amĂ©lioration des performances en production et la traçabilitĂ© numĂ©rique totale des piĂšces et des outillages. Nous en expliquons les fondements et les points innovants, et argumentons les diffĂ©rentes solutions qu'il est nĂ©cessaire de crĂ©er, tant aux niveaux conceptuel qu'opĂ©rationnel.
