The conductance of a multi-mode ballistic ring: beyond Landauer and Kubo
The Landauer conductance of a two terminal device equals to the number of
open modes in the weak scattering limit. What is the corresponding result if we
close the system into a ring? Is it still bounded by the number of open modes?
Or is it unbounded as in the semi-classical (Drude) analysis? It turns out that
the calculation of the mesoscopic conductance is similar to solving a
percolation problem. The "percolation" is in energy space rather than in real
space. The non-universal structures and the sparsity of the perturbation matrix

Large Nc QCD and Models of Exotic Baryons
Exotic baryons have been predicted in the context of the chiral soliton
model. These states have been identified with strangeness +1 resonances
reported in a number of experiments. In this talk it is pointed out that the
technique used to quantize these solitons in most conventional treatments
depends on dynamical assumptions beyond those in standard large Nc physics.

Dephasing at Low Temperatures
We discuss the significance and the calculation of dephasing at low
temperatures. The particle is moving diffusively due to a static disorder
configuration, while the interference between classical paths is suppressed due
to the interaction with a dynamical environment. At high temperatures we may
use the `white noise approximation' (WNA), while at low temperatures we
distinguish the contribution of `zero point fluctuations' (ZPF) from the
`thermal noise contribution' (TNC). We study the limitations of the above
semiclassical approach and suggest the required modifications. In particular we
