    HTX-011 reduced pain intensity and opioid consumption versus bupivacaine HCl in bunionectomy: phase III results from the randomized EPOCH 1 study.

    BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: There is a need for local anesthetics that provide consistent analgesia through 72 hours after surgery. This study evaluates the use of HTX-011 (bupivacaine and meloxicam in Biochronomerpolymer technology), an extended-release, dual-acting local anesthetic, in reducing both postoperative pain over 72 hours and postoperative opioid use when compared with bupivacaine hydrochloride (HCl) and saline placebo. Inclusion of low-dose meloxicam in HTX-011 is designed to reduce local inflammation caused by surgery, potentiating the analgesic effect of bupivacaine. Previously, significant synergy has been observed with bupivacaine and meloxicam with both given locally together. METHODS: EPOCH 1 was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled and active-controlled phase III study in subjects undergoing a primary unilateral, distal, first metatarsal bunionectomy in which subjects received either a single intraoperative dose of HTX-011, immediate-release bupivacaine HCl or saline placebo. RESULTS: A total of 412 subjects were dosed. The results for the primary and all four key secondary endpoints were statistically significant in favor of HTX-011. HTX-011 demonstrated superior, sustained pain reduction through 72 hours, significantly reduced opioid consumption and resulted in significantly more opioid-free subjects compared with saline placebo and bupivacaine HCl. Safety was similar across groups with fewer opioid-related adverse events observed in the HTX-011 group. CONCLUSIONS: HTX-011 demonstrated significant reduction in postoperative pain through 72 hours with significant reduction in opioid consumption and a significant increase in the proportion of opioid-free subjects compared with saline placebo and the most widely used local anesthetic, bupivacaine HCl.     It has been suggested that mobile payment adoption in countries with strong financial infrastructures lag behind countries with weaker financial infrastructures because consumers have more choices of payment methods in strong financial infrastructure countries. Many researchers have attempted to determine the factors that influence the consumer adoption of mobile payment systems for the past decade. This paper reviews previous research that focuses on consumer mobile payment adoption and highlights the primary models used in these investigations. We identified 57 studies that matched our search criteria and found that TAM and UTAUT/UTAUT2 were the primary models utilized. We propose the use a risk/trust valence framework with security and privacy antecedents as a new way of investigating mobile payment adoption

    The construct of group cohesiveness has received limited study in the GSS domain. This paper draws upon previous work that looked at GSS impacts on group cohesion in small groups (5 members) and expands the investigation to the realm of large groups (over 20 members). We compare and contrast the findings in this study with a previous study of GSS restrictiveness and group cohesion done by Salisbury, Reeves, Chin, Bell and Gopal (1997) in the small group context. Findings indicate that the restrictiveness treatment does influence group cohesiveness, and that the effects are generally the same in large groups as in small groups

    The aim of this study was to discuss the development of nutraceutical product which includes the current market trends, challenges, and exploitation of natural resources through various processing. Wet granulation and dry granulation techniques were adopted for such processes. Wet granulation covers high shear mixing granulation, fluidized bed granulation, and twin screw granulation. Dry granulation covers roll compaction and uniaxial die compaction. These techniques were compared and reviewed in terms of physical, chemical and toxicity studies. The physical study considered the particle size, density, morphology, flowability and dissolution. The chemical study discussed on the active ingredients in the nutraceutical products and the toxicity study was presented by investigation carried out on rats. There is a high potential for development of nutraceutical product. By understanding the various techniques of processing and characterisations, more nutraceutical products can be marketed
