The article initially deals with the question of how the historical relations between Sri Lanka and the West are perpetuated through present-day tourism development and tourist marketing. The main question of the text is, how the orientalist and colonial forms of discourse, which have shifted to contemporary meanings of development and value regimes of tourist marketing, are generating and perpetuating social inequality not only between Sri Lanka and "the West", but also between the Sri Lankan state and its citizens. The article discusses the power of such discursive relics of Western colonialism, which are embedded in large-scale tourism development conceptions and tourist marketing, and presents certain ways of their surpassing.Članak se prvenstveno bavi pitanjem kako povijesni odnosi između Šri Lanke i Zapada utječu na suvremeni razvoj turizma i turistički marketing u toj zemlji.

In 2013, the municipalities of Tolmin and Kobarid proved to be successful in tourism development of the Upper Soča Valley: they quintupled tourist overnight stays. However, there are other institutions, like the Kobarid Museum (KM) and the Walk of the Peace Foundation (WP), which aim to further develop historical thematic paths of war in the region, an endeavour that started in Kobarid as early as 1990. The area is also located at the fringes of the Triglav National Park (TNP), a primarily nature conservation institution. In this article, the complex situation, in which cultural heritage dynamically oscillates between local conservation, political promotion and tourism development is examined.U članku se prikazuju međuinstitucionalni razmjeri u Kobaridu, gradu smještenom u gornjoj dolini rijeke Soče, na sjeverozapadu Slovenije.

oai:ojs.hass.tsukuba.ac.jp:article/1Living with Diversity, volume I, documents the proceedings of the Slovenia-Japan University Cooperation Network Graduate Student Forum Series held at Ljubljana University in 2008. The proceedings comprise the individual research papers as well as detailed reports of the three discussion sessions. While the individual papers discuss issues from each researcher’s specific field of expertise within the federating theme, the three discussion sessions address a wide range of issues and problems concerning identity, society and language from an essentially trans-disciplinary perspective.

Rekonstrukcija svetega prostora na primeru lokacije sv. Hilarija in Tacijana pri RobičuReconstruction of a Sacred Place. The Location of St. Hilarius and Tacian near Robič (Western Slovenia)

In the present article, I am examining different folk stories and legends that are attached to a small medieval church of st. Hilarius and Tacian in Western Slovenia not far from Slovenian-Italian border. I try to do this according to different variables, such as historical background of the wider area and archaeological findings, church history, toponimy, morphology and last but not least, comparative Slavic mythological findings. The expected result is a more or less exhaustive reconstruction of a sacred place that can serve as another case-model for researches of South Slavic (pre) Christian landscapes

Med plesnim studiem in družabnim plesiščem: O solidarnosti in praksah vzajemnosti v svingovskih plesnih skupnostih

Članek z naslovom Med plesnim studiem in družabnim plesiščem: O solidarnosti in praksah vzajemnosti v svingovskih plesnih skupnostih razpravlja o dinamiki udejanjanja solidarnostnih in hierarhičnih odnosov v sodobnih plesnih skupnostih svinga.

Anthropologist on Pilgrimage. On the Problem of Understanding and Interpreting Experience (Summary)

Understanding (subjective) experience of encountering another reality, the sacred, and the perception of the sacred, implies not only the acceptance of the belief that the sacred exists in itself and that it is located in place, in the context of the pilgrimage phenomenon, but also one’s own experience of the belief. The problems of research and understanding of direct experiences (not only pilgrimage experiences), the mechanisms that trigger them and their practical effect, are usually interpreted through methodological or interpretational limits. On the example of several elements of the anthropology of pilgrimage, the introductory paper offers a perspective that the issue of cultural-anthropological dealings with experience lies primarily in the interdisciplinary valuing of experiences of cultural anthropologists themselves. The thesis is further discussed by several colleagues whose research is focused on religious themes
