Multi-Impulse to Time Optimal Finite Burn Trajectory Conversion

    Get PDF
A novel conversion algorithm is presented that combines the fidelity of indirect optimization methods with the generality of direct methods to more easily solve time-optimal, finite-burn pseudo-rendezvous problems. An algorithm is described that converts a set of multiple-impulses, representing the entirety or a portion of a high- or low-thrust maneuver, to an exact time optimal finite-burn trajectory for a thrust limited, constant exhaust velocity spacecraft. A pseudo-rendezvous problem is one that yields a solution whose final time, position and velocity state is equal to that of the original post-impulsive trajectory. An iterative adjoint-control transformation is used to initialize the optimal control two-point boundary value problem. Examples are shown for both high and low-thrust non-coplanar Earth orbit transfers, as well as a low-thrust Hohmann-type Earth-Mars transfer

A Study on Psychiatric Morbidities in Newly Diagnosed Carcinoma Breast in Females

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Breast cancer(10.9%) is most common worldwide next to lung cancer. Among the risk factors identified for primary breast carcinoma, environmental and life style factors are important. Cancer patients and survivors suffer from psychological problems like adjustment disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and phobic disorders. Majority of the suicide victims of carcinoma breast have depression. It increases the burden of distress and dysfunction. Depression in these patients increases morbidity, length of hospital stay and overall disability. This decreases the motivation and compliance to chemotherapy. AIM OF THE STUDY: To study the prevalence of psychiatric morbidities in newly diagnosed carcinoma breast in females and to study effect of stressful life events and quality of life and their impact on the outcome of carcinoma breast. OBJECTIVES To study the psychiatric morbidity in newly diagnosed carcinoma breast in females. To assess the relationship between psychiatric morbidity and psychosocial stressors. To assess the relationship between psychological morbidity in carcinoma breast in females with quality of life. To understand the relationship between psychological morbidities with socio demographic and illness related variables METHODOLOGY: The Study is conducted in the patients suffering from carcinoma breast who are admitted for medical management in the Medical Oncology Department, Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. The period of study was six months. The study was done on 60 consecutive patients who were admitted as in patients in the department of medical oncology. The patients were subjected to several scales to assess their psychiatric morbidities like MINI International Neuropsychiatric Interview, HADS- Anxiety, Depression scale, Presumptive Stressful Life Events scale, Body Image Scale, Beck's Suicidal Ideation Scale. RESULTS Psychiatric morbidities are more prevalent among carcinoma breast patients. Younger age patients are suffering with more psychiatric morbidities. Patients with psychiatric morbidities experienced more stressful life events. There is no significant relationship between the staging of carcinoma and psychiatric morbidities Significant number of patients developed psychiatric disorder before the onset of symptoms of breast carcinoma. Patients with psychiatric morbidities have significant body image disturbances. Body image disturbances worsen the quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: Thus by identifying the underlying psychiatric morbidities in newly diagnosed carcinoma breast patients will help the treating physician to look for underlying factors contributing to depression and anxiety, and hence improve the overall outcome and quality of life in these patients. By early identification and referral, the potential dangers like suicide risks could be prevented. This will improve the overall outcome of patients with carcinoma breas

CRF based feature extraction applied for supervised automatic text summarization

    Get PDF
Feature extraction is the promising issue to be addressed in algebraic based Automatic Text Summarization (ATS) methods. The most vital role of any ATS is the identification of most important sentences from the given text. This is possible only when the correct features of the sentences are identified properly. Hence this paper proposes a Conditional Random Field (CRF) based ATS which can identify and extract the correct features which is the main issue that exists with the Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) based ATS. This work proposes a trainable supervised method. Result clearly indicates that the newly proposed approach can identify and segment the sentences based on features more accurately than the existing method addressed

Neill’s mapping function simplification for dry component using regression methods

    Get PDF
The modeling of the GPS tropospheric delay mapping function should be revised by simplifying its mathematical model. The current tropospheric delay models use mapping functions in the form of continued fractions. This model is quite complex and need to be simplified. By using regression method, the dry (hydrostatics) mapping function models has been selected to be simplified. There are twenty six operations for dry mapping function component of Neill Mapping Function (NMF), to be carried out before getting the mapping function scale factor. So, there is a need to simplify the mapping function models to allow faster calculation and also better understanding of the models

First record of deformity in Chinese Pomfret, Pampus chinensis (Euphrasen, 1788) from Indian waters

The Chinese pomfret Pampus chinensis (Euphrasen, 1788) (Stromateidae) observed with deformity from fish landings at the Jegathapattinam fishing harbour along Palk Bay coast of Tamil Nadu. The abnormality owing to fractional dorsal fin may call as ‘saddleback syndrome’ and this may be due to any kind of physical injury during early stages or to a higher chance of predation and in due course, the wound healed and the individual survive even with extreme deformed condition. Such a deformity for this species of Pomfret has never been documented from Indian waters and this could be the first record in Pampus chinensis

The Effect of Square Finned Conformal Cooling (SFCC) on Cycle Time for Plastic Injection Moulding / K. Kamarudin ...[et al.]

Cooling system is a significant factor in productivity and quality in the plastic injection moulding process. Numerous researchers demonstrated that conformal cooling channel yields significant improvement of productivity and quality of plastic injection moulding process. Apart from that, the advancement of Solid Free Form Technology (SFF) allows a mould designer to design a variety of conformal cooling channel geometry rather than conventional designs. This paper presents the research work to enhance the efficiency of square shaped groove conformal cooling channels which uses fins concept. Existing conformal cooling channel design that uses square shape groove was improved by incorporating fins to meet the best design that can reduce the cooling time. The effect of Square Finned Conformal Cooling (SFCC) design on cooling time was investigated by using Autodesk Moldflow Insight software. The simulation results indicated that different number of fins influences the cooling time. From the analysis, it was found that time to reach the ejection temperature was reduced by 19.4% for the cooling channels with 4 fins compared to existing cooling channel

Blue carbon stock of the seagrass meadows of Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay, off Coromandel Coast, south India, were computed from the organic carbon content and dry bulk densities of sediment core taken from the seagrass meadows of these two ecosystems. The Gulf of Mannar (GoM) and Palk Bay (PB) harbour 13 seagrass species dominated by Cymodocea serrulata and Syringodium isoetifolium. The soil carbon density of both GoM and PB were higher in subsurface cores
