Optimal fuzzy iterative learning control based on artificial bee colony for vibration control of piezoelectric smart structures

    Get PDF
Combining P-type iterative learning (IL) control, fuzzy logic control and artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, a new optimal fuzzy IL controller is designed for active vibration control of piezoelectric smart structures. In order to accelerate the learning speed of feedback gain, the fuzzy logic controller is integrated into the ANSYS finite element (FE) models by using APDL (ANSYS Parameter Design Language) approach to adjust adaptively the learning gain of P-type IL control. For improving the performance and robustness of the fuzzy logic controller as well as diminishing human intervention in the operation process, ABC algorithm is used to automatically identify the optimal configurations for values in fuzzy query table, fuzzification parameters and defuzzification parameters, and the main program of ABC algorithm is operated in MATLAB. The active vibration equations are driven from the FE equations for the dynamic response of a linear elastic piezoelectric smart structure. Considering the vibrations generated by various external disturbances, the optimal fuzzy IL controller is numerically investigated for a clamped piezoelectric smart plate. Results demonstrate that the proposed control approach makes the feedback gain has a fast learning speed and performs excellent in vibration suppression. This is demonstrated in the results by comparing the new control approach with the P-type IL control

Role of the porous structure of the bioceramic scaffolds in bone tissue engineering

The porous structure of biomaterials plays a critical role in improving the efficiency of biomaterials in tissue engineering. Here we fabricate successfully porous bioceramics with accurately controlled pore parameters, and investigate the effect of pore parameters on the mechanical property, the cell seeding proliferation and the vascularization of the scaffolds. This study shows that the porosity play an important role on the mechanical property of the scaffolds, which is affected not only by the macropores size, but also by the interconnections of the scaffolds. Larger pores are beneficial for cell growth in scaffolds. In contrast, the interconnections do not affect cell growth much. The interconnections appear to limit the number of blood vessels penatrating through adjacent pores, and both the pores size and interconnections can determine the size of blood vessels. The results may be referenced on the selective design of porous structure of biomaterials to meet the specificity of biological application

An Investigation of University Students' Classroom Seating Choices

The classroom is crucial for students, and seating position within the classroom can affect students’ performance. This study conducted a survey to investigate the relationship between seating zones and academic performance among 174 university students in Beijing. The results revealed differences in student performance in terms of seating position in small- and medium-sized traditional classrooms. However, the results did not indicate a similar hierarchy of student performance in terms of seating zones in larger traditional classrooms, horseshoe classrooms, collaboration classrooms, and computer classrooms. Additionally, the results revealed that most students considered the layout of a classroom to affect their performance

Dynamics simulation of braiding two Majorana-zero-modes via a quantum dot

In this work we perform real time simulations for the dynamics of braiding a pair of Majorana zero modes (MZMs) through a quantum dot in a minimal setup of pure 1D realization. We reveal the strong nonadiabatic effect when the dot energy level approaches to zero in order to achieve a geometric phase π/4\pi/4 which is required for a full exchange between the MZMs. Rather than the strategies of nonuniformly manipulating the system according to adiabatic condition and shortcuts-to-adiabaticity, we propose and illustrate a more feasible scheme to suppress the nonadiabatic transition, meanwhile which allows for a full exchange between the Majorana modes.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
