The prototype of an 100 MBytes/sec data recorder (HPS 100) has been realized using as the computer interface HIPPI (high-performance-parallel-interface) interfaces. The BTS software for the HPS 100 offering the HPS functionality to the user software is located both in the HPS itself (HPS slave SW) and on the controlling host like UNIX supercomputer or instrumentation control computer (HPS Host Driver). For copy purposes the HPS itself is also able to control another HPS machine. Research on the post-treatment of coded video signals were concentrated on quality improvements and on the compilation of the international MPEG-2 standard which includes 4:2:2 profiles. As a preliminary result of the research work 'image processing with workstations' a structurated development environment has been developed and its functionality in non-real time has been proved. Datenreduzierter Digitaler HDTV-Recorder Abschlussbericht

The original goal was the development of a HDTV recorder within the EU 95 project. After the HD-MAC activities were cancelled this research project was decided into two subprojects: 1. datacompressed recording of digital video signals on disk. A lossless compression method was developed and implemented in a disk-recorder. 2. System solutions for the hierarchical steadiness of electronic filmscanning. Basic research activities were: improvement of the basic telecines stability; investigation of the principal deviations; extraction of reference points in dependence on the sprockethole and examination of the picture contents. An electronic correction method for the steadiness was developed.
