    No full text
The author presents leading Muslim positions on issues of contraception, abortion, medically assisted reproduction, cloning and stem cells. This article demonstrates the complexity and heterogeneity of the rulings of “classical” Islamic law as well as those of contemporary judges. It deals as well with the social consequences of the new reproductive technologies. The diversity of the legal positions taken by different Muslim states derives from a rich legal tradition, from which may yet develop very diverse legislative approaches to matters related to reproduction
