APPROCHE CLINIQUE DES INTOXICATIONS AUX CHAMPIGNONS

    No full text
Mushroom intoxication is rare in Belgium. Consequently, physicians do not know much about it. The purpose of the present article is to present a clinical approach allowing the diagnoses of the common intoxications. From the 'incubation' period, and the symptoms, it is possible to identify the toxin and to estimate the severity of the intoxication. A comprehensive treatment should follow.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Urinary hydroxylysine and hydroxylysyl glycoside excretions in normal and pathologic states

Hydroxylysyl glycoside excretion in the urine of normal subjects and of patients having either a skin or a bone disease was measured by ion exchange chromatography. Free hydroxylysine and peptide-bound hydroxylysine excretions were determined in normal and certain pathologic urines. Hydroxylysyl glycosides constitute the greatest fraction of the total hydroxylysine excretion (81 per cent). The monosaccharidic form predominates in the urine of patients with bone diseases, while the disaccharidic form is mainly excreted in skin diseases. Free hydroxylysine and peptide-bound hydroxylysine represent, respectively, 8 and 11 per cent of the total hydroxylysine excretion. Most of this latter form comes probably from large urinary polypeptides. In some diseases, smaller peptides containing hydroxylysine could be released. © 1974.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

La Faculté de Médecine de l'ULB pendant la guerre 1914-1918

As the German army closed the Belgian Universities, was the ULB Medicine Faculty still able to fulfil its missions ?Much has been written on Antoine Depage and the ambulance de l'Océan in La Panne so that it seems that faculty activities existed only in West Flanders in " Free Belgium ". What about Brussels during German occupation ?Actually, several famous members of this Faculty are still working, teaching, searching and publishing in the capital. Faculty itself holds sessions in 1914, 1915 and 1918. It prepares the after war medical education with the belief that Germany will be soon defeated.SCOPUS: re.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

URINARY EXCRETION OF HYDROXYLYSYL GLYCOSIDES AS AN INDEX OF BONE METABOLISM.

    No full text
Bone collagen metabolism is generally estimated by the urinary excretion of hydroxyproline. Hydroxylysyl glycosides measured in urine could be a better tool to understand bone modifications during actual and simulated flight. This paper reports on a study that measured hydroxylysyl glycosides in urine with an amino-acid analyzer. Study results are discussed, and the paper concludes that the main source of hydroxylysyl glycosides in urine must be collagen.SCOPUS: cp.pinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
