Notulae to the Italian alien vascular flora: 2
In this contribution, new data concerning the Italian distribution of alien vascular flora are presented. It includes new records, exclusions and confirmations for Italy or for Italian administrative regions for taxa in the genera Ageratum, Aster, Buddleja, Cedrus, Centranthus, Cephalotaxus, Clerodendrum, Cotoneaster, Cyperus, Honorius, Lantana, Ligustrum, Morus, Muscari, Oenothera, Opuntia, Platycladus, Plumbago, Pseudotsuga, Sedum, Sporobolus, Stachys, Ulmus and Yucca. A nomen novum, Stachys talbotii, is proposed as a replacement name for Sideritis purpurea
Cyperus schweinitzii (Cyperaceae): a new naturalized alien in Italy
Cyperus schweinitzii Torr. (Cyperaceae), a xenophyte native to North America, is reported for the first time in Italy. A considerable population was found on a railway yard in Stradella (Lombardy), where the species is naturalized. Until now, C. schweinitzii had been recorded outside of its native range only on the French railway network. Diagnostic characters are presented and an original drawing is provided. Additionally, its possible means of introduction and its invasive status are discussed
Filippo Morandini (1826−1903), botanico e patriota risorgimentale: inedite annotazioni per il Pavese, Lodigiano e il Colle San Colombano
Some notes of botanical interest handwritten by Filippo Morandini (1826-1903), botanist from Lodi, are published here for the first time. Annotated on a copy of Nocca and Balbis Flora Ticinensis kept at the library of the Botanical garden of the University of Pavia (Biblioteca unificata della Scienza e della Tecnica, Sezione di Ecologia del Territorio), they mostly represent floristic records from the provinces of Pavia and Lodi, and from the San Colombano hill. Every note is contextualised from a historical and phytogeographical viewpoint, allowing a comparison between the current and the mid-eighteenth century floras. As a result of a biographical investigation conducted at the State Archive of Pavia, his period as a student in Pavia is enlightened. Details are additionally provided about the Pavia botanical scene of 160 years ago, its key members (either famous or neglected) and its involvement in the Risorgimento events of that period
Herbarium Universitatis Ticinensis (PAV): segnalazioni interessanti per la flora dell’Italia nord-occidentale.
As a result of the revision (still in act) of the specimens kept in the Herbarium Universitatis Ticinensis (PAV), 10 noteworthy taxa for the Northwestern Italian flora are here presented (9 from Lombardy and one from Piedmont). Among these, 7 have been collected before 1950. Particularly impressive is the discovery of a single specimen of Marsilea strigosa from Lombardy (previous records of this species were unknown for northern Italy) and two specimens of Asclepias tuberosa, a new North American alien for Italy
