    Electronic Resources Access and Usage for Scholarly Research Work by Postgraduate Students at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta

    This study investigated the extent of electronic resource access and usage for scholarly research work by post graduate students at University of agriculture in Abeokuta. The thrust of this paper is to discuss the points of accessing, frequency of use, usefulness and strategies to improve students’ use of electronic resources. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The target populations for this study are postgraduate students of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The participants sampled numbered 350 postgraduate students using stratified random sampling method. Out of 350 questionnaires distributed, a total of 210 were collected representing 60% return. Based on the analysis of the data, it was found that the postgraduate students use email as a means of communication while other electronic facilities that can aid their research works were not adequately used by them. Recommendations were made for improvement.  Data collected were analysed using simple percentage, frequency counts and the mean.     The Influence of Leadership Style on the Performance of Subordinates in Nigerian Libraries

    This paper examines the influence of leadership style on the performance of subordinates in Nigerian Libraries. The sample consisted of professional librarians and their supporting staff in Nigerian libraries. A total of 100 questionnaires were administered, with a 72 percent response rate. The result showed that there was a positive relationship between the leadership style of librarians and support staff in Nigerian libraries

    Physical Work Environment and Job Satisfaction of Library Personnel in Academic Libraries in Ogun state, Nigeria

    Employee\u27s job satisfaction is one of the primary factors that has been connected to the success of any organization. As a result, elements like promotions, remuneration, proper training, leadership styles, nature of work, perceived fairness and equality, coworker, and work environment all contribute to library personnel\u27s job satisfaction. This study examined the influence of physical work environment on job satisfaction of library personnel in academic libraries in Ogun state, Nigeria. The population for this study includes the library personnel of nine academic libraries. Multistage sampling technique was used to select 170 respondents from nine academic libraries in Ogun State. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation, and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression analysis were used to analyse the data. Major indices of job satisfaction identified by the respondents are promotional opportunity, work environment adequate training and work group. Results revealed that 53.0% of the respondents were male, 39.9% were between the age of 41-50 years, 35.0% had over 16 years work experience, and 36.8% had MLS degree. Overall, 66.9% of the respondents were satisfied with their job. Majority agreed that physical work environment (79.4%) influence their job satisfaction. OLS revealed that physical work environment (β = 0.17) had a significant (p\u3c0.05) influence on job satisfaction of library personnel in the study area. The study concluded that job satisfaction of library personnel in academic libraries is highly influenced by physical work environment. The study recommended that institutions should build a work environment that will attract, motivate and boost the job satisfaction level of its personnel

    Motivational Strategies and Physical Work Environment as Correlates of Job Performance of Library Workers in Colleges of Education, South-West Nigeria

    This study, investigated motivation strategies andphysical work environment as correlates of job performance of library workers in colleges of education located in South-West Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design. Based on total enumeration, 210 library workers in colleges of education in South-West Nigeria were used. Data was collected using a self-constructed instrument on Motivation Strategies Physical Work Environment and Job Performance (MSPWEJP). A total of 192 library workers returned the questionnaire administered, and were used for analysis. The overall Cronbachalpha for the scale is 0.873 indicating good internal consistencies among the variables. Three research questions were answered and two hypotheses was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. It was established that motivation and physical work environment were essential elements that improved the job performance of library workers in colleges of education in South-West Nigeria. The finding revealed that motivation and physical work environment have positive effects on job performance (B=0.242, p-value < 0.05), (B=0.102, p-value < 0.05) and relative influence of motivation and physical work environment [(F (2,189) = 35.340; p<0.05)] respectively. It was recommended that motivational strategies applied by the college management and the physical working facilities jointly provided paved a good way for library workers’ job performance in colleges of education, South-West Nigeria and that these metrics be maintained.&nbsp
