Avaliação do conforto de protectores individuais auditivos

A exposição ao ruído em contexto cupacional e a sua consequência mais visível - perda de audição induzida pelo ruído, assumem grande importância nos países industrializados, não só pelo facto desta ser a doença profissional mais frequente nestes países, como também pela transversalidade que apresenta a todos os sectores de actividade. Uma grande parte dos programas de protecção auditiva implementados na indústria passa pelo recurso à protecção individual auditiva, estando documentada a importância do uso destes dispositivos durante todo o tempo de exposição ao ruído para que sejam eficazes na sua função. Este trabalho centrou-se no estudo do conforto de protectores individuais auditivos. Foram seleccionados três protectores que depois de testados em contexto real de trabalho foram avaliados, com recurso ao preenchimento de um questionário, quanto a diferentes índices de conforto. Assim, foi possível comparar o “desempenho” dos índices de conforto dos dispositivos testados e determinar qual o protector que, globalmente, proporcionava uma maior sensação de conforto. Visto que, muito provavelmente, nem todos os índices de conforto contribuiriam da mesma forma para a sensação global de conforto, foi solicitado aos mesmos trabalhadores que atribuíssem pontuações de importância a cada um dos índices avaliados anteriormente. Isto permitiu hierarquizar a importância dos índices estudados para a sensação de conforto dos utilizadores. Espera-se, desta forma, contribuir para a maior eficácia dos programas de protecção auditiva implementados com recurso ao uso de protecção individual, acrescentando mais valias ao processo de selecção destes dispositivos.Exposure to noise in occupational context and its most visible consequence - noise induced hearing loss, assume great importance in industrialized countries, not only because this is the most common professional disease in these countries, but also by the presence it has in all activity sectors. Since that it is not likely that all the indexes contribute in the same way to the global comfort feeling, it was asked to the same workers to punctuate the importance of each index evaluated before. This enabled to order the indexes by the importance they have on the global comfort feeling. It is hopped that this study contributes to a greater efficacy of the hearing conservation programmes implemented through the use of hearing protection, adding value to the selection process of these devices
