    Effect of virtual physical exercise on mental health status during the covid-19 pandemic

    In May 2021, the Malaysian government enforced a movement control order (MCO) due to the worsening situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. MCO includes restrictions on outdoor activities and the closure of fitness centres. The active community may experience disquietude because this order affects their healthy living activities outdoor, and partially, it affects them psychologically. To overcome this, several endeavors were made to encourage physical exercise through live virtual physical activity via social media or recorded videos in the broadcasting platform. Therefore, this study aims to measure the mental health status of the community undergoing virtual physical exercise (VPE) program during MCO using a new modified instrument. In this study, 100 participants were randomly participated within the southeast region in Malaysia using the snowball effect strategy. The Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scales (DASS-21) questionnaire was modified into a new survey that was specifically designed to measure stress, anxiety, and depression related to VPE and MCO. The survey was scaled and administered online for data collection. The SPSS software was used for descriptive statistics, and SmartPLS software was used to test the structural equation model between the items. The obtained results showed significant changes in the mental health status [i.e., level of stress, anxiety and depression reduced after joining VPE (M = 14.5, SD = 13.6)]. In addition, depression was significantly correlated with stress and anxiety before and after involvement in VPE (p = 0.00). In conclusion, engaging in VPE during the quarantine and restricted movement period can lead to a healthier mental status. This study enlighten the future of physical activities using innovative method through technology, their impact on lifestyle, and the psychological states of the community

    Virtual physical exercise influences on mental health status during COVID-19 outbreak: cross-sectional survey study

    The severity of Covid-19 outbreak caused it to be declared a pandemic and the Malaysian government had to implement movement control order (MCO). MCO includes restriction on outdoor activities and temporary shutdown of fitness centres. Sports enthusiasts among community may experience uneasy phenomenon as this order affecting their exercises routines. To some extent, it does affect them physically, mentally, and emotionally. Various efforts were made to allow these group to engage in physical exercise. One of the efforts is engaging in live virtual physical exercise (VPE) through social media or recorded videos. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the relationship between VPE and mental health status during COVID-19 pandemic lockdown situation. In this quantitative designed study, 84 participants were recruited randomly within Johor community using snowball effect strategy. DASS-21 questionnaire was used to measure mental health status and administered online for data collection. SPSS software was used for descriptive statistic and SmartPLS software was used to test the structural equation model between the variables. Findings showed significant decreases in the level of stress, anxiety, and depression after joining the VPE programme during MCO. The depression scale was significantly corelated to stress and anxiety before and after involvement with VPE programme. Overall, participants has improved mental health status by engaging with the VPE programme during the lockdown order. This study is expected to shed some light on the future of physical activities via technology and online platform, their influence towards healthy lifestyle and the mental status of the community

    Analysis of stroke distribution between professional intermediate and novice squash players

    The purpose of this study was to analyse the distribution of strokes of three different levels of players in squash game which were the professional elite, intermediate and novice players. Quantitative method and experimental repeated measures design were employed for data collection. A total of 5 players with an average age of 21.27 ± 5.22 years old were involved as sample for each level of players. Every type of shots for both forehand and backhand strokes performed by players were recorded. There were 15 types of shots executed by the players during games. The most common types of shots performed were identified and distribution of strokes was verified by coaches and experts. Recorded videos were then analysed using hand notational analysis while inferential statistics were conducted using SPSS version 16. Results showed that there were significant differences in backhand strokes between groups while there was no significant difference recorded in forehand strokes. Notational analyses data indicated that the most shots performed were backhand drive (BHDV) followed by forehand drive (FHDV) and both forehand and backhand cross-court drive (FHXCDV and BHXCDV). There were only five types of shots frequently performed and were found significant for all three levels: forehand drive (FHDV), forehand cross-court drive (FHXCDV), backhand drive (BHDV), backhand cross-court drive (BHXCDV) and backhand drop (BHDP). The results of this study showed that the backhand shots and shot selection during games might pose as the contributing factors to differentiate between three different levels of players. This study also generated playing pattern profiles of three levels of squash players which could provide essential knowledge for the coaches to recognize the ability of their players and thus improve the efficiency of training method and enhance the skills and playing strategies of their athletes

To learn geometry does not like learn arithmetics because geometry knowledge can be apply with our daily life. Therefore, this study aims to innovate circle of angle (C.O.A) to assist Standard 4 students in geometry‘s teaching and learning and to help inability to cope and know the different geometric angles within the set time of goals/objective in the class. Besides, this study also could solve the lack of attractive and innovative ideas in the teaching of Geometric. In addition, it can be student centered learning to change Old teacher center way of teaching mathematic in geometric class for Standard 4 students
