Arithmetic and the standard electroweak theory
We propose the relations 1/e - e =3 and tan(2theta_W)=3/2, where e is the
positron charge and theta_W is the weak angle. Present experimental data
support these relations to a very high accuracy. We suggest that some duality
relates the weak isospin and hypercharge gauge groups of the standard
electroweak theory.Comment: Latex, 6 page
On the arithmetic of a family of twisted constant elliptic curves
Let be a finite field of characteristic . For any power
of , consider the elliptic curve defined by over . We describe several arithmetic invariants of
such as the rank of its Mordell--Weil group , the size of its
N\'eron--Tate regulator , and the order of its Tate--Shafarevich
group (which we prove is finite). These invariants have radically
different behaviors depending on the congruence class of modulo 6. For
instance either has trivial -part or is a -group. On the other
hand, we show that the product has size comparable to
as , regardless of . Our approach relies on
the BSD conjecture, an explicit expression for the -function of , and a
geometric analysis of the N\'eron model of .Comment: 38 pages. v2: minor changes following referee repor
Next-to-Leading-Order Corrections to the Production of Heavy-Flavour Jets in e+e- Collisions
In this paper we describe the calculation of the process e+e- -> Z/gamma ->
QQbar + X, where Q is a heavy quark, at order alpha_s^2.Comment: 49 pages, Latex, epsfig, 6 figures. Tables 2 and 3 labels and

Search for the decay at Belle
We report a search for the rare charmless decay
using a data sample of
pairs collected at the resonance with
the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider. No
statistically significant signal is found and a 90% confidence-level upper
limit is set on the decay branching fraction as .Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, submitted to PRD(RC
Complex-Temperature Properties of the Ising Model on 2D Heteropolygonal Lattices
Using exact results, we determine the complex-temperature phase diagrams of
the 2D Ising model on three regular heteropolygonal lattices, (kagom\'{e}), , and (bathroom
tile), where the notation denotes the regular -sided polygons adjacent to
each vertex. We also work out the exact complex-temperature singularities of
the spontaneous magnetisation. A comparison with the properties on the square,
triangular, and hexagonal lattices is given. In particular, we find the first
case where, even for isotropic spin-spin exchange couplings, the nontrivial
non-analyticities of the free energy of the Ising model lie in a
two-dimensional, rather than one-dimensional, algebraic variety in the
plane.Comment: 31 pages, latex, postscript figure
