Various studies have been carried out in the whole fields of Buddhism and temples today through all scenery visually recognized in temples, which are the representative religious facility in Korea. In this context, this study will examine the space use in Buseoksa in the past through the stone wall, which is the most representative scenery among various things in the temple. Through it, this study focuses on studying the meaning and characteristics of the space use through the stone wall by investigating how the space has been used in the temple. The results of this study with the aim to examine the space use in Buseoksa in the past can be summarized as follows. First, the largest meaning of the space use through the stone wall is to make it possible to harmonize and connect the new and old areas naturally. Second, although the Buddhist temple has been established on the mountain by the stone wall piled on vertically at Buseoksa, the components are arranged in a certain interval without any difference to the temple built on the level land. That is, we can recognize that the space use through the stone wall granted the orderยท unificationยท harmony to the Buddhist temple arrangement as well as overcoming the geographical disadvantage of mountain. Third, the intrinsic meaning of the stone wall is to continue the systematic space use. That is, it was possible to keep using the space efficiently by giving the order and system in the space, which has been formed while using the space in order systematically through the stone wall. As seen in Buseoksa, it is possible to keep using the space effectively as the building is arranged orderly at a certain interval by the stone wall of vertical form and the outside space between the buildings is open. Fourth, lastly, the space use at Buseoksa does not simply accept the given topography to use it but adopts the efficient method on the situation fixing the space use plan
