Bidirectional On-Board Charger with Reduced DC-Link Capacitance for PHEV application
MasterA bidirectional DC-DC converter is constructed by utilizing the dual active bridge (DAB) topology. Additionally a LC tank is attached in a primaryswitching arm to cancel out the second order harmonics originated from the rectified single-phase line source. With the proposed second order harmonic eliminating method, it is possible to reduce the DC-link voltage ripple. In the whole control loop, a phase locked loop (PLL) is utilized to obtain unity power factor and eliminating the second order harmonics. A main advantage ofthis proposed converter is that the DC-link apacitance can be selected small. Then a film capacitor can be used guaranteeing a longer life time. Simulation and experimental results are presented for validation
