「추상조각의 제작 연구」는 문화발전과 예술사조에 부응하는 창작과 미술교육을 위한 연구가 될 것이며 우리 나라 미술계의 발전에 이바지 할 것이다. 추상조각은 현대미술의 중요한 부문으로 국제적으로 활발히 연구되고 있으며 우리 나라 국전에서도 추상미술 부문을 따로 두어 그 장려에 힘쓰고 있다
