    Relationships of Serum Iron Parameters and Hemoglobin with Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 Second in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

    Background: Although chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a known cause of secondary polycythemia with elevated erythropoietic demands in response to hypoxemia, anemia is relatively common in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and is related to increased mortality. However, little is currently known about the relationship between various iron parameters and disease severity in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients. Methods: Data from the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, a population-based epidemiologic survey conducted in 2010-2012, were used. A total of 1,129 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were examined to reveal the associations between the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and hemoglobin and iron parameters, including serum iron, ferritin, total iron binding capacity, and transferrin saturation, using Spearman correlations and multiple linear regression analyses. Results: The FEV1 was positively correlated with serum hemoglobin (ฮณ=0.37, P<0.001), iron (ฮณ=0.20, P<0.001), transferrin saturation (ฮณ=0.19, P<0.001), and ferritin (ฮณ=0.22, P<0.001), and negatively correlated with age (ฮณ=-0.40, P<0.001) and lower in female patients (ฮณ=-0.56, P<0.001) in the Spearman correlation. The FEV1 was independently associated with serum iron (ฮฒ=0.049, P=0.035) and transferrin saturation (ฮฒ=0.049, P=0.035) after adjusting for age, sex, and body mass index in the multiple linear regression analyses. Conclusion: The serum iron and transferrin saturation levels were independently associated with FEV1 as a marker of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease severity.ope

During the installation and certification process, sufficient analysis is needed for the IPS of specific aircraft components, such as wing, windshield, and engine inlet, in which icing occurs mainly. Among the methods of analysis on IPS, numerical analysis is a time-effective and cost-effective method. Numerical analysis has been conducted to collect accurate heat transfer analysis for thermal IPS, which is mainly used. The analysis involves an internal heat transfer analysis in the icing simulation on the aircraft surface. For accurate heat transfer analysis results, the coupling method is required to analyze regions where heat transfer occurs. Most of the prior research used a loose-coupling method for time efficiency. However, the loose-coupling method does not take into account the effect of heat transfer in each region on the thermal convection of external flow. While the tight-coupling method takes longer to calculate than the loose-coupling method, it can combine all the heat transfer analyses in the IPS simulation process, resulting in high accuracy. In this study, a convective heat transfer coefficient obtained by the tight-coupling method in dry air conditions without water film was used. An anti-icing analysis was conducted on thermal IPS with the tight-coupling method. A comparative analysis was then performed with experimental results and other numerical analysis studies. The tight-coupling method showed more excellent agreement with the experiments than the loose-coupling method. In post menopausal women, the prevalence of osteoprosis produced significant result at vertical(OR: 2.637, p=0.021), grip strength(OR: 2.732, p=0.006). The prevalence of osteopenia produced significant result at grip strength(OR: 2.745, p=0.000). For preventing osteoporosis and osteopenis, men and women's cut-off values are grip strength about 40kg and 20kg respectively. In Korea, the prevalence of osteoporosis is highly and the injury rate of osteoporotic bone fractures in the elderly drops quality of life and will cause to increased medical expenses. Thus, the purpose of this study is produce of osteoporosis, osteopenia odds ratio accrording to various physical factors and calculate fitness cut-off values about disease. Methods : The subjects is Seoul A hospital patient who taken total medical examination in health promotion center from 2002 to 2009. They tested bone mineral density and fitness level. We selected 5923 above 40s men and pre/post-menopausal women. Fitness test composed to flexibility, strength, power, cardiopulmonary fitness. Bone mineral density test is used to DEXA(Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiomery) and measured in lumbar spine L1๏ฝžL4 and right femural neck. We recorded bone mineral content and T-score and classified according to fitness quatile level and health group and disease group. Statistics applied logistics regression analysis and ROC(Receiver Operating Characteristic) Curve.
