Deep Learning use in recomendation systems to reduce the desertion in Colombian High Education
The preliminary monograph proposed here seeks to find how the implementation of a Deep Learning tool can effectively mitigate attrition in Higher Education Institutions by reducing the time of detection and recommendation of supports necessary for students to can continue their educational process.
The Colombian government is aware of the problems surrounding higher education dropouts. For this reason, it has generated initiatives that seek to lower the numbers of the problem, but at present, the efforts have not had the expected result.
The research will focus on determining the feasibility of implementing the tool on cloud platforms recognized as those with the greatest capacity and completeness of their service and on determining whether Higher Education Institutions have the capacity to generate the information that allows power it and the possibility of maintaining the cost of a tool deployed on a cloud platform.Magíster en Inteligencia de Negocio
Clinkering and early age hydration characterization of Belite-Alite Calcium Sulfoaluminate (BACSA) cements
In this work, four BACSA clinkers with different compositions (belite ~ 70-55 wt %, alite ~ 10-15 wt % and ye’elimite ~ 10-15 wt %) were synthesized (at laboratory scale). Lime, gypsum, kaolin and sand were used as raw materials and clinkering temperatures from 1280 to 1300 ºC were studied. Every BACSA clinker was chemically and mineralogically characterized through X-ray fluorescence and laboratory X-ray powder diffraction (LXRPD), the latter in combination with the Rietveld methodology to obtain the full phase assemblage including amorphous contents. The clinker with the targeted composition (belite ~ wt 60 %, alite ~ 13 wt % and ye’elimite ~ 10 wt %) was chosen to perform the scaling-up (5 kg). To do so, the processing parameters (milling time and clinkering conditions) have been optimized.
Finally, the hydration of the corresponding BACSA cement pastes (prepared with the scaled-up clinker and gypsum) was studied through rheological measurements (at very early hydration time), calorimetry and impedance spectroscopy (first 24 h), and LXRPD in combination with the Rietveld methodology and G-factor method, at 1 and 7 hydration days to determine degree of hydration.Universidad de Málaga. Test beam performance of a CBC3-based mini-module for the Phase-2 CMS Outer Tracker before and after neutron irradiation
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will undergo major upgrades to increase the
instantaneous luminosity up to 5–7.5 x 10³⁴ cm-² s-¹. This High Luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC) will deliver a total of 3000–4000 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13–14 TeV. To cope with these challenging environmental conditions, the strip tracker of the CMS experiment will be upgraded using modules with two closely-spaced silicon sensors to provide information to include tracking in the Level-1 trigger selection. This paper describes the performance, in a test beam experiment, of the first prototype module based on the final version of the CMS Binary Chip front-end ASIC before and after the module was irradiated with neutrons. Results demonstrate that the prototype module satisfies the requirements, providing efficient tracking information, after being irradiated with a total fluence comparable to the one expected through the lifetime of the experiment
Measurement of the production cross section for a W boson in association with a charm quark in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
The strange quark content of the proton is probed through the measurement of the production cross section for aWboson and a charm (c) quark in proton–proton collisions
at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 138 fb−¹ collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The
W bosons are identified through their leptonic decays to an electron or a muon, and a neutrino. Charm jets are tagged using the presence of a muon or a secondary vertex inside
the jet. The W + c production cross section and the cross section ratio R±c= σ(W+ + ¯c)/σ (W− + c) are measured inclusively and differentially as functions of the transverse momentum and the pseudorapidity of the lepton originating from the W boson decay. The precision of the measurements is improved with respect to previous studies, reaching 1% in
R±c = 0.950±0.005 (stat)±0.010 (syst). The measurements are compared with theoretical predictions up to next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics.Individuals have received support from the Marie-Curie program and the European Research Council and Horizon 2020 Grant, contract Nos. 675440, 683211, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 884104, and COST Action CA16108 (European Union); the Leventis Foundation; the Alfred P. Measurement of the B0s -> u+u- decay properties and search for the B0 -> u+u- decay in proton-proton collisions at s=13TeV
Measurements are presented of the B⁰s → μ+μ−branching fraction and effective lifetime, as well as results of a search for the B0 → μ+μ−decay in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeVat the LHC. The analysis is based on data collected with the CMS detector in 2016–2018 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140fb−¹. The branching fraction of the B⁰s → μ+μ−decay and the effective B0smeson lifetime are the most precise single measurements to date. No evidence for the B⁰ → μ+μ−decay has been found. All results are found to be consistent with the standard model predictions and previous measurements.Individuals have received support from the Marie-Curie programme and the European Research Council and Horizon 2020 Grant, contract Nos. 675440, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 884104, and COST Action CA16108 (European Union); the Leventis Foundation; the Alfred P. A search for decays of the Higgs boson to invisible particles in events with a top-antitop quark pair or a vector boson in proton-proton collisions at √s=13TeV
Asearch for decays to invisible particles of Higgs bosons produced in association with a top-antitop quark pair or a vector boson, which both decay to a fully hadronic final state, has been performed using proton-proton collision data collected at √s = 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−¹. The 95% confidence level upper limit set on the branching fraction of the 125 GeV Higgs boson to invisible particles, B(H → inv), is 0.54 (0.39 expected), assuming standard model production cross sections. The results of this analysis are combined with previous B(H → inv) searches
carried out at √s = 7, 8, and 13 TeV in complementary productionmodes. The combined upper limit at 95% confidence level on B(H → inv) is 0.15 (0.08 expected).Individuals have received support from the Marie-Curie programme and the European Research Council and Horizon 2020 Grant, contract Nos. 675440, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 884104, and COST Action CA16108 (European Union); the Leventis Foundation; the Alfred P. Evidence for four-top quark production in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
The production of four top quarks (t¯tt¯t) is studied with LHC proton-proton collision data samples collected by the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV, and corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 138fb−¹. Events that have no leptons (all-hadronic), one lepton, or two opposite-sign leptons (where lepton refers only to prompt electrons or prompt muons) are considered. This is the first t¯tt¯tmeasurement that includes the all-hadronic final state. The observed significance of the t¯tt¯tsignal in these final states of 3.9 standard deviations (1.5 expected) provides evidence for t¯tt¯tproduction, with a measured cross section of 36+12−11fb. Combined with earlier CMS results in other final states, the signal significance is 4.0 standard deviations (3.2 expected). The combination returns an observed cross section of 17 ±4 (stat)±3 (syst) fb, which is consistent with the standard model prediction.Individuals have received support from the Marie-Curie program and the European Research Council and Horizon 2020 Grant, contract Nos. 675440, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 884104, and COST Action CA16108 (European Union); the Leventis Foundation; the Alfred P. Searches for additional Higgs bosons and for vector leptoquarks in tt final states in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
Three searches are presented for signatures of physics beyond the standard model (SM) in ττ final states in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, using a data sample collected with the CMS detector at √s = 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−¹. Upper limits at 95% confidence level (CL) are set on the products of the branching fraction for the decay into T leptons and the cross sections for the production of a new boson ɸ, in addition to the H(125) boson, via gluon fusion (ggɸ) or in association with b quarks, ranging from O(10 pb) for a mass of 60 GeV to 0.3 fb for a mass of 3.5TeV each. The data reveal two excesses for ggɸ production with local p-values equivalent to about three standard deviations at mɸ = 0.1 and 1.2TeV. In a search for t-channel exchange of a vector leptoquark U₁, 95% CL upper limits are set on the dimensionless U₁ leptoquark coupling to quarks and τ leptons ranging from 1 for a mass of 1TeV to 6 for a mass of 5TeV, depending on the scenario. In the interpretations of the M¹²⁵h and M¹²⁵h,EFT minimal supersymmetric SM benchmark scenarios, additional Higgs bosons with masses below 350 GeV are excluded at 95% CL.Individuals have received support from the Marie-Curie programme and the European Research Council and Horizon 2020 Grant, contract Nos. 675440, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 884104, and COST Action CA16108 (European Union); the Leventis Foundation; the Alfred P. A search for new physics in central exclusive production using the missing mass technique with the CMS detector and the CMS-TOTEM precision proton spectrometer
A generic search is presented for the associated production of a Z boson or a photon with an additional unspecified massive particle X, pp → pp + Z/γ + X, in proton-tagged events from proton–proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV, recorded in 2017 with the CMS detector and the CMS-TOTEM precision proton spectrometer. The missing mass spectrum is analysed in the 600–1600 GeV range and a fit is performed to search for possible deviations from the background expectation. No significant excess in data with respect to the background predictions has been observed. Model-independent upper limits on the visible production
cross section of pp → pp + Z/γ + X are set.Individuals have received support from the Marie-Curie program and the European Research Council and Horizon 2020 Grant, contract Nos. 675440, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 884104, and COST Action CA16108 (European Union); the Leventis Foundation; the Alfred P.
