Sanity check for NNNN bound states in lattice QCD with L\"uscher's finite volume formula -- Exposing Symptoms of Fake Plateaux --

A sanity check rules out certain types of obviously false results, but does not catch every possible error. After reviewing such a sanity check for NNNN bound states with the L\"uscher's finite volume formula[1-3], we give further evidences for the operator dependence of plateaux, a symptom of the fake plateau problem, against the claim in [4]. We then present our critical comments on [5] by NPLQCD: (i) Operator dependences of plateaux in NPL2013[6,7] exist with the PP-values of 4--5%. (ii) The volume independence of plateaux in NPL2013 does not prove their correctness. (iii) Effective range expansion (ERE) fits in NPL2013 violate the physical pole condition. (iv) Ref.[5] is partly based on new data and analysis different from the original ones[6,7]. (v) A new ERE in Refs.[5,8] does not satisfy the L\"uscher's finite volume formula. [1] T. Meson Condensations in High-Density Matter

Recent studies on meson condensations (pions and kaons) in high-density hadronic matter are reviewed. After summarizing onset mechanisms of pion and kaon condensations, we discuss implications for neutron star phenomena such as rapid cooling through neutrino emission, static and dynamic properties of neutron stars. Recent studies on coexistence problem of pion and kaon condensations are briefly introduced. Finally, relevance of meson condensations in hadronic matter to those in color superconductivity are briefly mentioned.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures, proceedings of Finite Density QCD at Nara, July 10-12, 2003, Nara, Japa

Squark Mass Measurement in the Long-lived Stau Scenario at the LHC

    Get PDF
The long-lived stau scenario is an interesting possibility at the LHC. We study squark mass measurements in this scenario; in particular, we show that left- and right-handed squark masses are both measurable. In SUSY events, multiple jets are expected, which become a source of combinatorial backgrounds. In order to reduce such backgrounds a hemisphere analysis is applied, and we discuss mass measurements of squarks in decay modes of left-handed squark into quark + (neutral / charged) Wino and also right-handed squark into quark + Bino.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figure
