S-Restricted Compositions Revisited
An S-restricted composition of a positive integer n is an ordered partition
of n where each summand is drawn from a given subset S of positive integers.
There are various problems regarding such compositions which have received
attention in recent years. This paper is an attempt at finding a closed- form
formula for the number of S-restricted compositions of n. To do so, we reduce
the problem to finding solutions to corresponding so-called interpreters which
are linear homogeneous recurrence relations with constant coefficients. Then,
we reduce interpreters to Diophantine equations. Such equations are not in
general solvable. Thus, we restrict our attention to those S-restricted
composition problems whose interpreters have a small number of coefficients,
thereby leading to solvable Diophantine equations. The formalism developed is
then used to study the integer sequences related to some well-known cases of
the S-restricted composition problem
A rare presentation of the Klinefelter's syndrome
A 16 years old boy with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) was not suspected of having Klinefelter's syndrome until he complained of painful gynecomastia. He was under haemodialysis for 2 years. At first, he was in an approximately full pubertal development (P5, G5), but he had a small and a firm testis (length 2.2cm) and some degree of facial male pattern hair. He also had a decreased upper to lower body segment ratio and despite having chronic renal failure, he was taller than his parents and siblings. His laboratory tests showed high levels of FSH and normal levels of LH and testosterone. With regards to all these findings, we suspected that there might be an occult Klinefelter's syndrome. So, we made his karyotype that showed a 47XXY pattern. Because there are only a few number of cases that have occult Klinefelter's syndrome in the basis of chronic renal failure, we decided to report this case
Deep Convolutional Neural Network to Detect J-UNIWARD
This paper presents an empirical study on applying convolutional neural
networks (CNNs) to detecting J-UNIWARD, one of the most secure JPEG
steganographic method. Experiments guiding the architectural design of the CNNs
have been conducted on the JPEG compressed BOSSBase containing 10,000 covers of
size 512x512. Results have verified that both the pooling method and the depth
of the CNNs are critical for performance. Results have also proved that a
20-layer CNN, in general, outperforms the most sophisticated feature-based
methods, but its advantage gradually diminishes on hard-to-detect cases. To
show that the performance generalizes to large-scale databases and to different
cover sizes, one experiment has been conducted on the CLS-LOC dataset of
ImageNet containing more than one million covers cropped to unified size of
256x256. The proposed 20-layer CNN has cut the error achieved by a CNN recently
proposed for large-scale JPEG steganalysis by 35%. Source code is available via

Relationship between serum level of interleukin-2 in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and disease activity in comparison with control group
Background: Despite the large number of surveys, there are not any validated biomarkers for SLE disease activity till now. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between serum level of IL-2 in patients with SLE and disease activity in comparison with control group. Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, 73 patients with lupus and 73 healthy subjects referred to the rheumatology clinic of 5 Azar Hospital in Gorgan (North of Iran). They were studied via convenience sampling during 2011-2012. Blood samples were taken from both groups and serum levels of interleukin -2 measured by Avi Bion Human IL-2 ELISA kit. Serum Level of IL-2 greater than 15 pg/ml defined positive and lesser than this amount defined negative. Disease activity evaluated with SLE disease activity index. Score greater than or equal to three or four defined as active disease. Data analysis conducted by SPSS software (version 16) and by using descriptive statistics and statistical tests. Results: Serum level of IL-2 was positive in 45.2% of sample studied and negative in 54.8% in case group, while in control group, serum level of IL-2 only in 11% of sample studied was positive and in 89% was negative. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between serum level of IL-2 and the SLE disease activity index (p=0.025). Conclusion: This study showed the relationship between serum levels of IL-2 and disease activity, so this biomarker can be used as a clinical indicator for assessing disease activity in patients with SLE
Depth-Optimized Reversible Circuit Synthesis
In this paper, simultaneous reduction of circuit depth and synthesis cost of
reversible circuits in quantum technologies with limited interaction is
addressed. We developed a cycle-based synthesis algorithm which uses negative
controls and limited distance between gate lines. To improve circuit depth, a
new parallel structure is introduced in which before synthesis a set of
disjoint cycles are extracted from the input specification and distributed into
some subsets. The cycles of each subset are synthesized independently on
different sets of ancillae. Accordingly, each disjoint set can be synthesized
by different synthesis methods. Our analysis shows that the best worst-case
synthesis cost of reversible circuits in the linear nearest neighbor
architecture is improved by the proposed approach. Our experimental results
reveal the effectiveness of the proposed approach to reduce cost and circuit
depth for several benchmarks.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures, 5 tables; Quantum Information Processing (QINP)
