Effective Theory Approach to W-Pair Production near Threshold

In this talk, I review the effective theory approach to unstable particle production and present results of a calculation of the process e- e+ ->mu- nubar_mu u dbar X near the W-pair production threshold up to next-to-leading order in GammaW/MW ~ alpha ~ v^2. So Far, So Good

Since I\u27ve come back from Spring Break, I\u27ve started working on a Collection Development project. So far I\u27ve been looking at books that people have given as gifts to the college and deciding whether or not we should have them in the collection. At this point I seem to be stuck thinking that we should just keep all of the books I\u27ve looked at so far because they all seem at least moderately interesting or helpful. I never thought I would feel this comfortable at the desk. At the end of last week a lot of librarians weren\u27t in the building so I picked up one of their shifts. In January I never would have thought I could just volunteer for that. The idea of being at the desk alone was pretty scary, so the thought of being at the desk when there were very few librarians even in the building would have been flat out terrifying. First Day Without a Desk Buddy: A Detailed Summary

Today is my first day behind the Ref. Desk without a Desk Buddy. I\u27m glad it\u27s a morning shift because those are usually much quieter and less eventful than afternoon shifts. All of the librarians have reassured me that if I need help answering a question I can just call any of them, but so far I\u27ve been fine. I\u27ve been keeping a list of everything that occurs at the Desk this morning so that I can properly document my first day out here by myself.
