Search for and production with at = 13 TeV with the ATLAS experiment
The measurement of the Yukawa coupling of the top quark is one important goal
of particle physics after the discovery of the Higgs boson. There are two
processes that offer the possibility to directly measure the Yukawa coupling of
the top quark at the LHC. These are the production of a top-antitop-quark pair
in association with a Higgs boson via the strong interaction () and
the electroweak production of a single top quark and a Higgs boson (). In
the Standard Model, the cross section for production is much smaller than
the cross section for production as there is a destructive
interference between diagrams where the Higgs boson is radiated off a top quark
and diagrams where it is radiated off a boson. Despite the reduced cross
section, this interference provides additional sensitivity to the sign of the
Yukawa coupling.
The considered Higgs boson decay into photons is promising due to the good
energy resolution of the photons and the relatively small backgrounds. But it
is also challenging due to the small branching ratio.
The analysis strategy and the latest results on the search for
production in the diphoton channel at the ATLAS experiment are presented.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, TOP2017 conferenc
Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of seminormal simplicial affine semigroup rings
We show that the Eisenbud-Goto conjecture holds for (homogeneous) seminormal
simplicial affine semigroup rings. Moreover, we prove an upper bound for the
Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity in terms of the dimension, which is similar as
in the normal case. Finally, we compute explicitly the regularity of full
Veronese rings.Comment: Minor revision
Study on methods to analyse the impact of state aid on competition
One of the potential benefits of an economic approach to State aid control is to make relationships between the costs and the benefits of State aid more transparent and, by doing so, to provide guidance on how to focus State aid control efforts on those areas where the damage of State aid is the greatest. Where markets fail to deliver efficient outcomes, Government intervention, including the provision of State aid, can improve welfare. This is an accepted result in the economic literature. Many national or supra-national bodies do not provide a mechanism to monitor and discipline the State aid provided by its members. Indeed, the control of State aid in the European Union stands out.state aid, government intervention, market failure, policy evaluation, Nitsche, Heidhues
Overcoming Barriers in Supply Chain Analytics—Investigating Measures in LSCM Organizations
While supply chain analytics shows promise regarding value, benefits, and increase in performance for logistics and supply chain management (LSCM) organizations, those organizations are often either reluctant to invest or unable to achieve the returns they aspire to. This article systematically explores the barriers LSCM organizations experience in employing supply chain analytics that contribute to such reluctance and unachieved returns and measures to overcome these barriers. This article therefore aims to systemize the barriers and measures and allocate measures to barriers in order to provide organizations with directions on how to cope with their individual barriers. By using Grounded Theory through 12 in-depth interviews and Q-Methodology to synthesize the intended results, this article derives core categories for the barriers and measures, and their impacts and relationships are mapped based on empirical evidence from various actors along the supply chain. Resultingly, the article presents the core categories of barriers and measures, including their effect on different phases of the analytics solutions life cycle, the explanation of these effects, and accompanying examples. Finally, to address the intended aim of providing directions to organizations, the article provides recommendations for overcoming the identified barriers in organizations
