Forecasting the market demand is a very critical step in planning all kinds of business including construction business. This study was conducted to develop a robust regression model that enables construction companies predicting the demand of new single family houses in the USA. The study identified each of inflation rate, mortgage rate, GDP, Personal consumption, unemployment rate, and population as independent variables that may affect the market demand of new single family houses. The data were collected over 21 years, evaluated, and sorted according the nature of the relationship between each independent variable factor and the market demand of new single family houses. The data reflected double conversion in relationship between GDP, Personal consumption, and population and the market demand due to the financial crises and the beginning of the recovery after it. The Dummy variables technique was used to identify the periods of before the financial crisis, during the financial crises, and after it. The dummy variables have been added to the model to handle the fluctuation in these data sets. The study concluded that the unemployment rate variable and the personal consumption variable are the most important factors that affect the market demand of new single family houses in the USA. A regression model was developed to be used to predict the market

Despite decades of ongoing inquiry and increasing interest, research on leadership has ignored religious elements, especially from the Qur’an, as a source of knowledge. The first aim of the study was to reveal leadership concepts in the Qur’an

CYTOMORPHOLOGICAL DETECTION OF MALIGNANT EFFUSIONS IN NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA: AN INSTITUTIONAL EXPERIENCE IN A DEVELOPING COUNTRY

Objective: Lymphomatous effusions of the body cavity may be the presenting feature or develop later as a complication of systemic disease. The detection rate of lymphoma in cytologic specimen is low, especially in the absence of clinical details and ancillary studies. The present study was carried out to identify light microscopic features that are useful in identifying lymphomas on effusion cytology. Methods: A 5-year retrospective study of all patients with fluid cytology or tissue biopsy reported as suspicious or positive for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in a tertiary care was done. The cytology, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry slides were reviewed. Results: A total of 27 cases were included in the study. Correlation with the histopathological sections of all the positive cases revealed that the cytomorphology of the abnormal lymphoid cells was monomorphous and similar to those seen in the tissue biopsy. Mercury drop karyorrhexis when present was characteristic of lymphomatous effusions. The detection rates of large cell lymphomas are higher than low-grade counterparts. Non-lymphomatous effusions showed heterogeneous lymphoid cell population and lacked karyorrhexis. Conclusion: Lymphomas can give rise to effusions. In the absence of resources in developing countries, it is important to distinguish lymphomatous effusion from a reactive process based on morphology. Monomorphous population of the lymphoid cells and presence of mercury drop karyorrhexis are useful morphological clues in identifying a lymphomatous effusion. Further, tuberculosis is a common non-neoplastic process that can be mistaken for a low-grade NHL

A pure and bizarre ovarian malignancy - choriocarcinoma: case report

Germ cell malignancies represent 15% of ovarian cancers in Asians. Choriocarcinoma is a malignant tumor of the ovary with trophoblastic differentiation can be gestational or non-gestational in origin the study is aimed to increase awareness of rare malignant cancer in children that can present in uncommon symptoms and is diagnosed only if the doctor is vigilant. It is a prospective observational case report. Though uncommon a cancer, choriocarcinoma cases have been reported several times in the literature with no definitive treatment plan. The neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery has proven too successful in the above case. A multidisciplinary approach to juvenile cancer can have a fruitful outcome with high cure rates. The rarity of this cancer makes it difficult to have clear cut diagnosis fixed treatment plan. A good history taking and easy availability of ultrasound with fast-track referral can save many lives from the deadly disease like cancer. Due to paucity of data in regard to pure choriocarcinoma this case report may help in gathering more attention to the research towards this cancer

Reflection in professional practice: Perspectives and experiences of a group of corporate trainers in the UAE

Reflection has been extensively noted in the literature to be an essential practice for professional competency. As a result, training on reflection is included in preservice and professional development in various professions, including teaching, nursing, medicine, social work, the legal profession, and in the police force. However, within corporate training, there is little to no in-depth research on the notion of reflection, how it is understood, if it is used, and how it is practised. This study aimed to address this literature gap by investigating how a group of nine UAE based corporate trainers conceptualised and used reflection within their professional practice. In addition, it aimed to recommend potential actions that could be taken to improve the use of reflection by corporate trainers. The study was situated within an interpretivist paradigm, and data was collected through oneon-one semi-structured interviews with each of the nine research participants, and an additional focus group with three research participants who were previously interviewed. The interviews and focus group were transcribed and analysed thematically. The data was then interpreted through a theoretical framework that drew on two sources: Donald Schön’s work on reflective practice, and the writings of Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky on higher mental functions. Results showed that corporate trainers in the UAE conceptualised reflection as a tool for continuous development. By learning from past and present experiences, and by thinking about the future, corporate trainers were able to improve their individual skills and deal with professional challenges. While this finding is consistent with existing academic literature on reflection, several issues emerged that could be problematic for the professional development of corporate trainers. These issues include: the tendency for corporate trainers to view reflection through an individual centric lens; the absence of any evidence of critical reflection; and the lack of any formal training on the benefit and use of reflection. Results also showed that the process of engaging in reflection, as described by the research participants, aligns with a Vygotskian model where reflection was first triggered by a realisation of a deficiency. The next step was a reconstruction of reality followed by an inner self-questioning phase. This was followed by a modelling exercise that took into consideration various future actions. The final two steps involved the development of a plan of action, followed by testing that action. A main finding from the analysis of reflection through a Vygotskian lens is the tendency of participants to favour self-dialogue over other mediational means. Within corporate training, reflection can, and should, be enhanced. The first recommended action is the design and delivery of a series of workshops that raises awareness of the professional benefits of reflection and explains how it can be used more effectively. A second recommendation is to encourage corporate trainers to use additional mediational tools such as reflective writing, reflective duologues with a mentor, and co-training. The final recommendation is an initiative to encourage the establishment of a community of practice. A first step towards achieving this goal is the facilitation of monthly group reflection sessions in which corporate trainers can discuss challenges and best practices
