    A needs analysis on the utilization of learning management systems as blended learning media in elementary school

    In Indonesia, educational activities have shifted to home-based learning after the COVID-19 epidemic broke out.  Consequently, digital learning has become a necessary option for many teachers. This study aims to understand teachers’ experiences, digital platform mastery, digital-based learning pedagogy and the role of parents in learning at home in implementing the teaching process using learning management system-based blended learning media during the   COVID-19 epidemic. A questionnaire was used in this study to gather data on the experiences of the teachers, parents' participation in home learning during COVID-19, the digital pedagogy and the mastery of digital platforms using a qualitative approach.  This study involved 16 students’ parents and 96 elementary school teachers. The data was analyzed using NVivo Pro software. The testing of data validity was carried out through data triangulation. Results of this recent study revealed that based on their experience, teachers still used videos as the main teaching material in digital learning and they carried out the learning assessment process using digital platforms. This was impacted by the process of changing from distant learning to the new normal. Additionally, the selection of digital media was carried out by considering media effectiveness, the learning process, available facilities and digital literacy. Moreover, parents not only provided learning facilities at home but were also more active as facilitators and supervisors during the learning process at home. This study contributes to provide some considerations for mathematics teachers in designing learning management system-based blended learning media in elementary schools during the COVID-19 epidemic

    Computational Thinking Skills Indicators in Number Patterns

    This research aims to examine a) what computational thinking indicators have been developed by researchers, b) what computational thinking indicators can be used in learning mathematics appropriately, and c) how to describe the development of student computational thinking indicators from the answers of computational thinking tests. This research is a qualitative descriptive study through a process of collecting data from literature reviews, integrated computational thinking math tests, and interviews. Data collection instruments used research notes, interview sheets, and CT question sheets. The results showed that a) 20 computational thinking indicators had been studied by researchers, b) computational thinking indicators that could be used in learning mathematics include problem decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, procedural algorithms, and generalizations, and c) From the student answers, five proposed computational thinking indicators can be developed even though they were not perfect. The general implication of this research is that there are five indicators of computational thinking skills that can be used in mathematics learning, specifically in number patterns, which include problem decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, pattern recognition, procedural algorithm, and generalization. The researchers developed all five computational thinking skills indicators in the instructional designs of not only the number pattern concept but also combination, geometry, combinatorics, etc

    A Meta-Analysis of the Utilization of Computer Technology in Enhancing Computational Thinking Skills: Direction for Mathematics Learning

    The aim of this research is to summarize and observe how interventions affect students’ computational thinking (CT) skills through computer technology. Some common factors predicted to cause students’ heterogeneous CT skills would also be examined. A meta-analysis was chosen to conduct this study. Finding and selecting the relevant literature resulted in 43 documents published in the period of 2011 – 2021 which involved 5.088 samples. The formula of Hedges’ g was used to measure the effect size. The Z test and the Q Cochrane test were also used to analyze the data. The results of this study revealed that the interventions involving computer technology on students’ CT skills had modest positive effect in which computer technology interventions significantly enhanced students’ CT skills. It indicates that the learning process utilizing computer technology is effective to enhance students’ CT skills. Furthermore, educational level, geographical location, group size of intervention, learning tool, and subject did not moderate students’ heterogeneous CT skills. It means that the level of students’ CT skills intervened by using computer technology is not affected by the factors. To improve students’ CT skills, this study suggests teachers to utilize computer technology into their mathematics teaching-learning process.     Development of Learning Management System Model and Numerical Literacy-based Message Content

    The objective of this research was how to efficiently create message content that will be given to primary students through LMS (Learning Management System). The research method used was a sequential mixed method by combining qualitative and quantitative research. The qualitative method used Research and Development research with the ADDIE model to see the quality of the products being developed, while the quantitative method was done to see the effectiveness of the product through testing the average similarity and proportions through. Some instruments such validation sheet, questionnaires, and learning achievement test were used to collect the data. 84 second grade elementary students from three different schools were involved in this research whereby they were selected by using convenient sampling. Results of this research revealed that the validity of LMS model was valid for learning tools, and very valid for model books, media presentations, and e-learning. Additionally, the practicality test showed that teacher assessment in one-to-one, small group, and field was very practical for each of assessment. Meanwhile, z test showed that the proportion of students who had learning outcomes above the minimum passing criteria at the posttest was higher than at the pretest in Classes A, B, or C

    Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran berbasis HOTS serta rendahnya keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis HOTS untuk siswa sekolah dasar. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran berbasis HOTS serta meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis HOTS untuk siswa sekolah dasar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan untuk guru SD yang berada di Kota Padang sebanyak 25 orang. Metode kegiatan dengan memberikan seminar hakiakt HOTS, pelatihan pelaksanaan pembelajaran HOTS dan pelatihan pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis HOTS. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam melaksanakan proses pembelajaran berbasis  HOTS serta meningkatknya keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasi HOTS. Impilikasi kegiatan ini dapat dijadikan referensi bagi praktisi pendidikan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan guru SD dalam proses pembelajaran berbasis HOTS

Permasalahan ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam melaksanakan proses pembelajaran tatap muka terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam melaksanakan proses blended learning pada proses pembelajaran tatap muka terbatas pada masa pandemic covid-19. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan untuk guru SD kecamatan X Koto Kabupaten Tanah Datar sebanyak 30 orang. Kegiatan ini meliputi seminar hakikat pembelajaran Blended learning dan pelatihan penerapan pembelajaran blended learning untuk pembelajaran pada masa pandemi covid-19. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah terjadinya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam melaksankan proses blended learning pada proses pembelajaran tatap muka terbatas pada masa pandemic covid-19.     Penerapan Hybrid Learning di Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia: Literatur Review

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menelusuri proses penggunaan hybrid learning di perguruan tinggi di Indonesia serta menelusuri kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang, dan ancama pembelajaran hybrid learning di perguruan tinggi. Metode untuk mengkaji literatur dilakukan dengan mencari dan mengumpulkan studi pustaka dengan kata kunci “penerapan hybrid leaning di perguruan tinggi”. Pada akhirnya terdapat 19 artikel merupakan literatur. Hasil penelusuran menunjukkan hybrid learning memiliki dampak positif pada proses pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi dan efektif diterapkan di perguruan tinggi. Dampaknya secara simultan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa seperti motivasi, keterampilan kognitif, keterampilan komunikasi, disiplin, koneksi, representasi matematis dan kemandirian belajar mahasiswa. Selain itu, hybrid learning ini memiliki kekuatan seperti peningkatan fleksibilitas dan pemahaman materi yang lebih baik, kelemahan seperti kesulitan mengatur jadwal belajar dan ketergantungan mahasiswa pada perangkat dan jaringan, peluang seperti mengurangi kesenjangan digital dan penggabungan lebih dari satu model pembelajaran, dan ancaman seperti beban kerja dan adanya kesenjangan antara desain pembelajaran dengan gaya belajar mahasiswa.     Pengabdian ini dilatar belakangi oleh beberapa factor yaitu lemahnya pengetahuan guru mengenai sistem belajar dari rumah untuk siswa sekolah dasar, lemahnya keterampilan guru dalam merancangan dan melaksanakan pembelajaran dari rumah  serta lemahnya keterampilan guru dalam membuat bahan ajar digital untuk proses pembelajaran dari rumah. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru mengenai konsep pembelajaran dari rumah serta meningkatkan keterampilan guru untuk mendesaian bahan ajar digital berbasis STEM untuk pembelajaran pada masa pandemic covid-19. Metode kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu pelatihan mengenai system belajar dari rumah, pelatihan STEM dan pelatihan pengambangan bahan ajar. Hasil pengabdian ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan kemampuan guru SD dalam melaksanakan proses pembelajaran dari rumah serta mampu mengembangkan  bahan ajar digital berbasis STEM untuk pembelajaran pada masa pandemic covid-19 ini.     BLENDED LEARNING IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS

    The background of this research was the development of blended learning in teaching mathematics. This study aimed to determine the benefits of blended learning in teaching mathematics by analyzing previous research. The method in this study is a systematic literature review (SLR), it descriptive based survey in the form of an analysis of 25 articles from the Science Direct database in the 2010-2020 period. The results showed that there are many benefits of blended learning in mathematic, which includes:  to improve mathematical thinking skills, develop good perceptions, improve learning outcomes, increase self-regulation, increase thinking/problem-solving skills, improve communication skills, increase student participation, simplify the assessment process, increase computational thinking skills, and critical thinking skills. The most significant benefit of blended learning is student learning outcomes, shown in 52% of the articles. The research implies the importance of supporting teachers in identifying the objectives of blended learning.

    Mapping Higher Order Thinking Skills of Prospective Primary School Teachers in Facing Society 5.0

    AbstractThe need to develop higher order thinking skills (HOTS) for prospective primary school teachers in facing society 5.0 has been motivating this research. This development process requires valid data regarding the HOTS description of prospective primary school teachers. The research is aimed to determine the HOTS ability of prospective primary school teachers in facing society 5.0. This is a qualitative descriptive study involving 125 senior students in the department of primary school teacher education. The data collection instrument utilized the validated mathematical HOTS test questions. The resulting score is then converted to an ideal score and mapped. The average score attained by prospective primary school teacher students was 57.01, according to the findings. This score indicates that prospective teachers' HOTS ability is in the fairly good category. The findings of this study can be used to improve HOTS for future teachers.Keywords: HOTS, prospective primary school teacher, mathematics. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi pentingnya pengembangan HOTS calon guru sekolah dasar (SD) dalam menghadapi era society 5.0. Proses pengembangan ini diperlukan data valid mengenai gambaran HOTS calon guru SD. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan kemampuan HOTS calon guru SD pada pembelajaran matematika dalam menghadapi era society 5.0. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatitif dengan melibatkan sebanyak 125 mahasiwa akhir di jurusan pendidikan guru sekolah dasar. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan soal test HOTS matematis yang telah divalidasi. Skor yang didapatkan kemudian di tranformasi ke skor ideal dan kemudian dipetakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata yang diperoleh oleh mahasiswa calon guru SD adalah 57,01. Skor ini membuktikan bahwa kemampuan HOTS mahasiswa calon guru berada pada kategori cukup baik. Implikasi penelitian ini dapat dijadikan landasan dalam pengembangan HOTS calon guru ke depan.Kata kunci: HOTS, calon guru SD, matematika
