Spectral spaces and ultrafilters
Let be the prime spectrum of a ring. In [arXiv:0707.1525] the authors
define a topology on by using ultrafilters and they show that this topology
is precisely the constructible topology. In this paper we generalize the
construction given in [arXiv:0707.1525] and, starting from a set and a
collection of subsets of , we define by using ultrafilters a
topology on in which is a collection of clopen sets. We use
this construction for giving a new characterization of spectral spaces and
several new examples of spectral spaces.Comment: 16 pages. To appear in Communications in Algebr
Pr\"ufer-like conditions on an amalgamated algebra along an ideal
Let be a ring homomorphism and let be an
ideal of . In this paper we study Pr\"ufer like conditions in the
amalgamation of with along , with respect to , a ring
construction introduced in 2009 by D'Anna, Finocchiaro and Fontana.Comment: 17 pages. To appear in Houston Journal of Mathematic
These confabulations are guaranteed to improve your marriage! Toward a teleological theory of confabulation
Confabulation is typically understood to be dysfunctional. But this understanding neglects the phenomenonâs potential benefits. In fact, we think that the benefits of non-clinical confabulation provide a better foundation for a general account of confabulation. In this paper, we start from these benefits to develop a social teleological account of confabulation. Central to our account is the idea that confabulation manifests a kind of willful ignorance. By understanding confabulation in this way, we can provide principled explanations for the difference between clinical and non-clinical cases of confabulation and the extent to which confabulation is rational
Cultural Education and the Voluntary Provision of Cultural Goods: An Experimental Study
We study the effect that the possibility of investing in cultural education has on the voluntary contributions to a cultural good. This is done in a two-stage public-good experiment. We also provide treatments with different context in order to control for a possible framing effect. Our results show the absence of an effect of cultural education on the contributions to the cultural good and a slight increase in the allocations of subjectsĂendowments to the cultural good when the cultural context is implemented in the laboratory.cultural education, cultural good, framing, experiments, voluntary provision
Behaviour in a Two-Stage Two Public Goods Experiment
In a two-stage two-public good experiment, we study the effect that subjectsâ possibility of contributing to a public good in the first stage of the game has on the voluntary contributions to the second public good. Our results show that subjects do not follow either the Nash strategy or the Pareto efficient strategy and that they perceive the two public goods as substitutes.public goods, experiments, voluntary provision
Cultural Education and the Voluntary Provision of Cultural Goods: An Experimental Study
We study the effect of the possibility of investing in cultural education on the voluntary contributions to the cultural good. Moreover, we provide treatments with different context in order to control for a possible framing effect. Our results show the absence of effect of cultural education on the contributions to the cultural good and a slight increase in the allocations of subjectsâ endowments to the cultural good when the cultural context is implemented in the laboratory.cultural education, cultural good, framing, experiments, voluntary provision
Properties of chains of prime ideals in an amalgamated algebra along an ideal
Let be a ring homomorphism and let be an ideal of . In
this paper, we study the amalgamation of with along with respect to
(denoted by ), a construction that provides a general frame
for studying the amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal, introduced
and studied by D'Anna and Fontana in 2007, and other classical constructions
(such as the , the and the constructions). In
particular, we completely describe the prime spectrum of the amalgamated
duplication and we give bounds for its Krull dimension.Comment: J. Pure Appl. Algebra (to appear
