    ACCOMODATION CAPACITIES AND THEIR IMPORTANCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOURISM IN BANAT, SERBIA

    Accommodation capacities are the basic element of the tourist economy material base, so their right arrangement and quality are of great importance for the successful tourism development in one area. At the beginning of 2001 the region of Banat had 28 hotels, the total accommodation of which was 1025 rooms and 2374 beds arranged within basic and complementary accommodation capacities. The average size of these capacities in Banat is 36,6 rooms and 84,8 beds per objective, which shows that these objectives are prevailingly small. The average capacity of the basic accommodation unit – a room is 2,3 beds. Fragmentary and prevailingly outdated net of the accommodation tourist objectives mainly located in towns, sparsely within the tourist locations indicates that there is a lack of courage in the process of tourism separation from the towns. The process is being developed in order to displace already mentioned tourist objectives to the tourist locations within the modern tourist settlements and comfortable boarding houses that are sold well only on the tourist market.Banat; Accommodation capacities; Structural participation.

    Source location encoding in the fish lateral line canal

    The position of a hydrodynamic dipole source, as encoded in a linear array of mechano-detecting neuromasts in the fish lateral line canal, was electrophysiologically investigated. Measured excitation patterns along the lateral line were compared to theoretical predictions and were found to be in good agreement. The results demonstrate that information on the position of a vibrating source from a fish is linearly coded in the spatial characteristics of the excitation pattern of pressure gradients distributed along the lateral line canal. Several algorithms are discussed that could potentially be used by a fish to decode lateral line excitation patterns, in order to localise a source and its axis of vibration. Specifically, a wavelet transform of a 1-D excitation pattern is shown to reconstruct a 2-D image of dipole sources located within a distance comparable to the body length of a fish and with a close range spatial accuracy twice the inter-neuromast distance

    Causal connectivity from right DLPFC to IPL in schizophrenia patients:a pilot study

    Abnormal function and connectivity of the fronto-parietal network (FPN) have been documented in patients with schizophrenia, but studies are correlational. We applied repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to the dorso-lateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and observed causal connectivity to the inferior parietal lobe (IPL). We hypothesized that patients with schizophrenia would have lower activation and slower reaction in the IPL following DLPFC stimulation. Thirteen patients with schizophrenia (SZ) and fourteen healthy controls subjects (HC) underwent rTMS at 10 Hz to the right DLPFC. Simultaneously, we measured brain activation in the IPL, represented as oxygenized hemoglobin (HbO) levels, using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). rTMS consisted of 20 trains of impulses at 10 Hz for 3 seconds, and 60 seconds waiting time. Using NIRSLab software, GLM was applied to estimate both hemodynamic response function (HRF) and its derivative. Following TMS to the DLPFC, SZ showed a smaller decrease in HbO levels in the bilateral IPL than HC (p = 0.05). Timecourse analysis revealed an immediate decrease in parietal HbO levels in HC, but not in SZ. This difference was significant (at a threshold level of p ≤ 0.05, with Bonferroni correction) for several time segments and channels in both rights and left IPL. Our findings suggest abnormal fronto-temporal connectivity in patients with schizophrenia, beyond a mere decrease or slowing of information processing. This is in line with the hypothesis of reduced fronto-parietal inhibition in schizophrenia

    Novel double-sided linear generator for the wave energy conversion

    The direct drive point absorber is a robust and efficient system for wave energy harvesting, where the linear generator represents the most complex part of the system. Therefore, its design and optimization are crucial tasks. The tubular shape of a linear generator’s magnetic circuit offers better permanent magnet flux encapsulation and reduction in radial forces on the translator due to its symmetry. A double stator topology can improve the power density of the linear tubular machine. Common designs employ a set of aligned stators on each side of a translator with radially magnetized permanent magnets. Such designs require doubling the amount of permanent magnet material and lead to an increase in the cogging force. The design presented in this thesis utilizes a translator with buried axially magnetized magnets and axially shifted positioning of the two stators such that no additional magnetic material, compared to single side machine, is required. In addition to the conservation of magnetic material, a significant improvement in the cogging force occurs in the two phase topology, while the double sided three phase system produces more power at the cost of a small increase in the cogging force. The analytical and the FEM models of the generator are described and their results compared to the experimental results. In general, the experimental results compare favourably with theoretical predictions. However, the experimentally observed permanent magnet flux leakage in the double sided machine is larger than predicted theoretically, which can be justified by the limitations in the prototype fabrication and resulting deviations from the theoretical analysis
