D0D0bar Quantum Correlations, Mixing, and Strong Phases

Due to the presence of the quantum correlation between the pair-produced D0 and D0bar from the decay of the psi(3770), the time-integrated single and double tag decay rates depend on charm mixing amplitudes, doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes, and the relative strong phase, delta, between D0 and D0bar decays to identical final states. Using 281 pb^-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the CLEO-c detector on the psi(3770) resonance, we measure the absolute branching fractions of D0 decays to K-pi+, CP eigenstates, and semileptonic final states to determine cos(delta) for K-pi+ and to limit the mixing amplitude y.Comment: 3 pages, to appear in the Proceedings of PANIC'05 (Particles and Nuclei International Conference), Santa Fe, NM, October 24-28 200

Measurement of Orbitally Excited D-Mesons at CDF II

Measurement of Orbitally Excited D-Mesons at CDF II Igor V. Gorelov (For the CDF Collaboration) Talk given on behalf of the CDF Collaboration at the First Meeting of the APS Topical Group on Hadronic Physics, GHP 2004, 24-26 October 2004, FERMILAB. Results on the first measurement of orbitally excited neutral D-meson states, D*_2 and D_1, produced in hadron collisions at Tevatron are presented. Using data from the displaced track trigger, CDF II collects the largest world sample of these states in decay modes D*+ pi-, D+ pi-. Masses and widths of both states have been measured with precision better than or comparable to the world average.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, talk given on behalf of the CDF Collaboration at the First Meeting of the APS Topical Group on Hadronic Physics, GHP 2004, Oct 24-26,2004, Fermilab, Batavia, Illinoi

Flavor SU(3) analysis of charmless B meson decays to two pseudoscalar mesons

    Get PDF
Global fits to charmless B --> PP decays in the framework of flavor SU(3) symmetry are updated and improved without reference to the \sin2\beta measured from the charmonium decay modes. Fit results directly constrain the (\bar\rho,\bar\eta) vertex of the unitarity triangle, and are used to predict the branching ratios and CP asymmetries of all decay modes, including those of the B_s system. Different schemes of SU(3) breaking in decay amplitude sizes are analyzed. The major breaking effect between strangeness-conserving and strangeness-changing decays can be accounted for by including a ratio of decay constants in tree and color-suppressed amplitudes. The possibility of having a new physics contribution to K \pi decays is also examined from the data fitting point of view.Comment: 22 pages and 2 figures; some comments and references added; more references added, version to appear in journa

Measurement of B(D+ -> mu+ nu) and the pseudoscalar decay constant f_D at CLEO

The analysis of 60 1/pb data collected on the psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector has produced the first statistically significant signal for D+ -> mu+ nu decay and led to the measurement of the decay branching fraction B(D+ -> mu+ nu) = (3.5 +- 1.4 +- 0.6) x 10-4 and the pseudoscalar decay constant f_D = (202 +- 41 +- 17) MeV.Comment: Talk presented at the 1st Meeting of the APS Topical Group on Hadronic Physics (Fermilab, Oct. 24-26, 2004). Experimental momentum spectra of identified hadrons at e+ee^+e^- colliders compared to QCD calculations

Experimental data on the shape of hadronic momentum spectra are compared to theoretical predictions in the context of calculations in the Modified Leading Log Approximation (MLLA), under the assumption of Local Parton Hadron Duality (LPHD). Considered are experimental measurements at e+ee^+e^--colliders of ξp\xi_p^*, the position of the maximum in the distribution of ξp=log(1/xp)\xi_p=\log(1/x_p), where xp=p/pbeamx_p=p/p_{beam}. The parameter ξp\xi_p^* is determined for various hadrons at various centre of mass energies. The dependence on the hadron type poses some interesting questions about the process of hadron-formation. The dependence of ξp\xi^*_p on the centre of mass energy is seen to be described adequately by perturbation theory. A quantitative check of LPHD + MLLA is possible by extracting a value of αs\alpha_s from an overall fit to the scaling behaviour of ξp\xi^*_p.Comment: 9 pages latex, 7 eps figures and total ps fil

Prospects for Pentaquark Searches in e+ee^+e^- Annihilations and γγ\gamma\gamma Collisions

Recent strong experimental evidence of a narrow exotic S = +1 baryon resonance, Θ+\Theta^+, suggests the existence of other exotic baryons. We discuss the prospects of confirming earlier experimental evidence of Θ+\Theta^+ and the observation of additional hypothetical exotic baryons in e+ee^+e^- annihilations and γγ\gamma\gamma collisions at LEP and B Factories

Ward Identities, B-> \rho Form Factors and |V_ub|

The exclusive FCNC beauty semileptonic decay B-> \rho is studied using Ward identities in a general vector meson dominance framework, predicting vector meson couplings involved. The long distance contributions are discussed which results to obtain form factors and |V_ub|. A detailed comparison is given with other approaches.Comment: 30 pages+four postscript figures, an Appendix adde

    Hadron Spectroscopy: Theory and Experiment

    Get PDF
Many new results on hadron spectra have been appearing in the past few years thanks to improved experimental techniques and searches in new channels. New theoretical techniques including refined methods of lattice QCD have kept pace with these developments. Much has been learned about states made of both light (u, d, and s) and heavy (c, b) quarks. The present review treats light-quark mesons, glueballs, hybrids, particles with a single c or b quark, charmonium, and bottomonium states. Some prospects for further study are noted.Comment: 29 pages, 9 figures, to be published in Journal of Physics G. Further updating of reference
