We aim to evaluate the overall survival and associated risk factors for HIV-infected Chinese patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART). 2517 patients receiving ART between 2006 and 2016 were prospectively enrolled in Yunnan province. Kaplan-Meier analyses and Cox proportional hazard regression analyses were performed. 216/2517 patients died during a median 17.5 (interquartile range [IQR] 6.8-33.2) months of follow-up. 82/216 occurred within 6 months of starting ART. Adjusted hazard ratios were10.69 (95%CI 2.38-48.02, p = 0.002) for old age, 1.94 (95%CI 1.40-2.69, p < 0.0001) for advanced WHO stage, and 0.42 (95%CI 0.27-0.63, p < 0.0001) for heterosexual transmission compared to injecting drug users. Surprisingly, adjusted hazard ratios comparing low CD4 counts group (<50 cells/μl) with high CD4 counts group (≥500 cells/μl) within six months after starting ART was 20.17 (95%CI 4.62-87.95, p < 0.0001) and it declined to 3.57 (95%CI 1.10-11.58, p = 0.034) afterwards. Age, WHO stage, transmission route are significantly independent risk factors for ART treated HIV patients. Importantly, baseline CD4 counts is strongly inversely associated with survival in the first six months; whereas it becomes a weak prognostic factor after six months of starting ART

In order to investigate the combined toxicity of compound contaminated azole fungicides on alage. Systematic investigation of Difenoconazole, Penconazole, Metconazole, Tetraconazole, Flutriafol, Fuberidazole, Triflumizole, Terrazole, HyMexazol, 9 azole fungicides as the components of the mixture. Thirty-five binary mixture systems with 173 mixture rays were designed by direct equipartition ray method. The growth inhibition toxicity of binary mixtures to Raphidocelis subcapitata was determined by 96-well microplates. Toxic interactions were qualitatively analyzed by Concentration addition (CA) and Independent Action (IA) models. Model Deviation Ratio (MDR) was used to quantitatively evaluate the toxic interaction of binary mixtures of azole fungicides, as well as the equivalent graph method, Toxic Unit (TU) method, additivity Index method (AI), Toxicity Index (MTI) and Combination Index (CI) methods were used to analyze the combined toxicity and toxic interaction of the mixture. The results showed that the frequency of synergistic effect was higher when mixed with Difenoconazole, Penconazole and Triflumizole, and the binary mixing with Flutriafol, Fuberidazole and Metconazole could reduce the toxicity of the mixture, showing additive and antagonistic effects. The toxicity of the mixture ranged from 3.053 to 6.415. In addition, at ambient concentrations, the mixture interaction is dominated by addition

Evaluation of Groundwater Storage Variations in Northern China Using GRACE Data

Dynamic change of groundwater storage is one of the most important topics in the sustainable management of groundwater resources. Groundwater storage variations are firstly isolated from the terrestrial water storage change using the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS). Two datasets are used: (1) annual groundwater resources and (2) groundwater storage changes estimated from point-based groundwater level data in observation wells. Results show that the match between the GRACE-derived groundwater storage variations and annual water resources variation is not good in six river basins of Northern China. However, it is relatively good between yearly GRACE-derived groundwater storage data and groundwater storage change dataset in Huang-Huai-Hai Plain and the Song-Liao Plain. The mean annual depletion rate of groundwater storage in the Northern China was approximately 1.70 billion m3 yr−1 from 2003 to 2012. In terms of provinces, the yearly depletion rate is higher in Jing-Jin-Ji (Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province) and lowest in Henan province from 2003 to 2012, with the rate of 0.70 and 0.21 cm yr−1 Equivalent Water Height (EWH), respectively. Different land surface models suggest that the patterns from different models almost remain the same, and soil moisture variations are generally bigger than snow water equivalent variations

Low-Carbon and economic flexibility scheduling of power system with multiple generation resources penetration

    Get PDF
The operation flexibility of the power system suffers great challenges due to the vigorously developing of renewable energy resources under the promotion of the carbon neutralization goal. To this end, this paper proposes an economical and flexible energy scheduling method for power system integrated with multiple generation resources while considering the operation of low-carbon. Specifically, flexibility evaluation indexes are constructed to describe the characteristics of the flexible generation units. Then they are connected with the flexibility of the power system in an economic and low-carbon flexible energy scheduling model. To coordinate the operation economy, flexibility, and carbon emission reduction, the model incorporates demand response, operational characteristics, and flexibility requirements. Further, the model is fully validated through the simulation on the modified IEEE 30-bus system. Results demonstrate that: the proposed method can reduce the system’s carbon emission and total operating costs and promote photovoltaic consumption

Characterization of the Toxicities of Cd-Ni and Cd-Cr Binary Mixtures Using Combination Index Method

    Get PDF
Direct equipartition ray design was used to construct Cd-Ni and Cd-Cr binary mixtures. Microplate toxicity analysis was used to evaluate the toxicity of individual substance and the Cd-Ni and Cd-Cr mixtures on Chlorella pyrenoidosa and Selenastrum capricornutum. The interacting toxicity of the mixture was analyzed with concentration addition (CA) model. In addition, combination index method (CI) was proposed and used to quantitatively characterize the toxicity of the binary mixtures of CdNi and Cd-Cr observed in experiment and find the degree of deviation from the predicted outcome of the CA model, that is, the intensity of interacting toxicity. Results indicate that most of the 20 binary mixtures exhibit enhancing and synergistic effect, and only Cd-Cr-R4 and Cd-Cr-R5 mixtures have relatively high antagonistic effects against C. pyrenoidosa. Based on confidence interval, CI can compare the intensities of interaction of the mixtures under varying levels of effect. The characterization methods are applicable for analyzing binary mixture with complex interaction

OsPSTOL1encodesa phosphorus (P) deficiency-tolerant protein expressed in the ausrice variety, Kasalash, which functions by enhancing the ability of the plant to obtain P and other nutrients; however, its role in woody plants remains unknown. In the present study, we isolated OsPSTOL1from Oryza sativa L. and subsequently generated OsPSTOL1-overexpressing transgenic Populus tomentosa. It was found that in the state of P deficiency, the transgenic P. tomentosahad a greater root length, the symptoms of P-deficiencyappeared much later, and the total nitrogen (TN) and phosphorus (TP) content was higher as compared with that of wild type plants. Upregulation of P-tolerance genes in transgenic P. tomentosaunder P-deficient conditions was analyzed by real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR),the results of which were consistent with the physiological traits. In summary, these findings show thatOsPSTOL1 plays a positive role in the regulation of P uptake and utilization in transgenicP. tomentosatrees under P-deficient conditions and provide evidence for the potential application of OsPSTOL1in woody plants to overcome soil P deficiency.© 2021 Friends Science Publishers</jats:p
