Predictions for the total cross-section in the TeV region: an update
In this talk we present an update of model predictions for the total cross-section in the TeV region. The update includes preliminary
results for cross-sections using the Bloch-Nordsieck model for
the overlap function of the partons in the transverse space, use of the CJLK
parametrisation of the photonic parton densities that has recently become
available and extension to the higher energies relevant to the
planned CLIC collider.Comment: Talk presented by A. De Roeck at the International Linear Collider

Field Study of Electrochemical Disinfection of Municipal Wastewater
Research on electrochemical disinfection of municipal wastewater has been conducted at the University of New Orleans using a continuous flow electrochemical reactor connected to a direct current (DC) power supply changing its polarity and varying the electrode distance. Bacterial inactivation and chlorine production were the main parameters that were recorded.
After months of research, it was determined that the electrochemical disinfection reactor is efficient and has a great potential for the future. There is no need to use chlorine and it has low operation costs.
The following design recommendations for an electrochemical disinfection unit were given: A detention time of 5 +- 0.3 minutes A minimum volumetric current density of 1000 amps/m3 A minimum detention current density of 80 amps.hr/m3
The combination of the three recommended design values yielded excellent disinfection efficiencies and low chlorine production
Total Cross-Sections : Cross-Talk between HERA, LHC and LC
We discuss the need to compare total cross-section measurements at LHC and
HERA with each other and with available models in order to obtain a more
precise prediction of the total hadronic cross-section at the future Linear
Collider, thus leading to a better estimate of the hadronic background.Comment: 5 pages, three figures, Talk presented by G. Pancheri at the

Games design and cultural dynamics: an approach to the cultural role of Japanese video games through procedural rhetoric
In the area of Game Studies, the study of Japanese videogames is a main object of research due to their historical role in the modern shaping of the medium. Yet despite that, the number of studies dedicated to discern its relationship with the construction of images of modern Japan is still reduced. Thus, this paper aims to realize an approach to this subject throughout the methodological tools provided by Ian Bogost and Gonzalo Frasca, which are grouped together under the general term of “procedural rhetoric”. In doing so, we hope to check its usefulness for elucidating the key elements that establish the relationship between Japanese video games and modern cultural dynamics.
