    Fuel Quality Monitoring by Color Detection

    The quality of automotive fuels—gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, and ethanol—is discussed in the light of their specifications in different countries and regions and in terms of their adulteration, which has such a prejudicial effect on the production chain, distribution chain, tax revenues, the environment, and end consumers. Different ways of adulterating automotive fuels are analyzed, as are the procedures for their detection. Several analytical methods for monitoring quality and detecting adulteration have been addressed in the literature, emphasizing the determination of properties such as density, distillation curve, octane rating, vapor pressure, etc., by means of physicochemical methods and chromatographic and spectrographic techniques, to the detriment of colorimetric methods. This chapter looks at colorimetric techniques designed for quality monitoring and the detection of adulteration in fuels, especially simple, quick, low-cost procedures with potential to be used in the field

    Ventricular arrhythmias are an important cause of morbidity and mortality and come in a variety of forms, from single premature ventricular complexes to sustained ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation. Rapid developments have taken place over the past decade in our understanding of these arrhythmias and in our ability to diagnose and treat them. The field of catheter ablation has progressed with the development of new methods and tools, and with the publication of large clinical trials. Therefore, global cardiac electrophysiology professional societies undertook to outline recommendations and best practices for these procedures in a document that will update and replace the 2009 EHRA/HRS Expert Consensus on Catheter Ablation of Ventricular Arrhythmias. An expert writing group, after reviewing and discussing the literature, including a systematic review and meta-analysis published in conjunction with this document, and drawing on their own experience, drafted and voted on recommendations and summarized current knowledge and practice in the field. Each recommendation is presented in knowledge byte format and is accompanied by supportive text and references. Further sections provide a practical synopsis of the various techniques and of the specific ventricular arrhythmia sites and substrates encountered in the electrophysiology lab. The purpose of this document is to help electrophysiologists around the world to appropriately select patients for catheter ablation, to perform procedures in a safe and efficacious manner, and to provide follow-up and adjunctive care in order to obtain the best possible outcomes for patients with ventricular arrhythmias

    Relíquias sagradas e a construção do território cristão na Idade Moderna

    O texto investiga um elemento estratégico para promovera cristianização do território da América Portuguesa nos dois primeiros séculos de ocupação: as relíquias sagradas, restos físicos dos santos, principalmente seus ossos, mas também outros artefatos com os quais os santos tiveram contato. Os atributos simultùneos de sacralidade e mobilidade da maior parte das relíquias, sua condição de repositório portåtil da história e da memória católicas, deram a esses artefatos uma posição altamente privilegiada como agentes da duplicação do território cristão na América. Utilizando fontes documentais dos dois lados do Atlùntico Ibérico, o texto investiga processos de descobertas, traslado e produção de relíquias sagradas, revelando sua função primordial de estruturação do espaço cristão. Além disso, mostra que as relíquias sagradas constituíram objetos em torno dos quais missionårios e índios estabeleceram um campo de traduçÔes e interlocuçÔes, levando adiante, nas vertentes católica e ameríndia, o difícil trabalho de reconhecimento e apropriação do outro
