Stopping Sexual Harassment in the Empire State: Past, Present, and a Possible Future
This report maps current patterns of workplace sexual harassment and their impact in New York State. It also provides a broader frame for understanding how efforts to confront sexual and gender-based harassment and assault have evolved over time, and charts possible directions for future organizing, policy, and research in New York and beyond.
The findings presented here are drawn from the 2018 Empire State Poll, an annual statewide survey of 800 New Yorkers conducted by the Cornell Survey Research Institute. Questions added to the survey reflecting existing legal definitions of workplace sexual harassment reveal the following: 10.9 percent of New York residents have experienced quid pro quo workplace sexual harassment, and 21.9 percent have experienced workplace sexual harassment that created a hostile work environment; 31.1 percent of women and 18.9 percent of men have experienced at least one of these forms of harassment. 13.9 percent of people of color and people of Hispanic origin have experienced quid pro quo workplace sexual harassment, as opposed to 8.5 percent of non-Hispanic whites. 38.9 percent of those experiencing at least one form of workplace sexual harassment say it impacted their work or careers; 48.9 percent who experienced quid pro quo harassment reported such an impact. 83.4 percent of New York residents think their leaders should do more to address workplace sexual harassment. There is notable variation by politics and ideology, but regardless of worldview, strong majorities think leaders should do more.
In addition to sharing the survey findings, the report discusses experiences and responses of survivors and how they are shaped by different identities and relations of power. It highlights black women’s leadership in propelling wide-reaching shifts in law and culture; efforts initiated by diverse survivors to effect change in specific industries; and culture change work engaging men and women as allies
National Culture\u27s Impact on Effectiveness of Supply Chain Disruption Management
The purpose of this research is to understand the national cultural antecedents that may help explain differences in supply chain disruptions mitigation abilities of companies from different countries. An analysis of survey data on disruption planning and response collected from various organizations worldwide was performed using weighted least square regression and factor analysis. We find that culture influences disruption planning and response. Statistical findings suggest that differences in disruption planning and response abilities between companies from different countries could be partly attributed to national culture. All five Hofstede’s dimensions of national culture, i.e., Power Distance, Individualism, Masculinity, Uncertainty Avoidance, and Long-term Orientation were shown to have a significant positive effect on disruption planning and response. National cultural dimensions and economic status of a country could be effectively used to predict disruption planning and response abilities of companies in various countries. Managers could benefit from our research as it could help them assess disruptions mitigation abilities of their partners located in other countries. Structural Basis for the Anomalously Low Spontaneous Polarisation Values of the Polar Phase of Sr1-xCaxTiO3 (x=0.02, 0.04): Evidence for a Ferrielectric Ordering
Full pattern Le-Bail refinement using x-ray powder diffraction profiles of
Sr1-xCaxTiO3 for x=0.02, 0.04 in the temperature range 12 to 300 K reveals
anomalies in the unit cell parameters at 170, 225 K due to an
antiferrodistortive (cubic to tetragonal I4/mcm) phase transition and at ~32,
~34 K due to a transition to a polar phase (tetragonal I4/mcm to orthorhombic
Ic2m), respectively. The lower transition temperatures obtained by us are in
excellent agreement with those reported on the basis of the dielectric studies
by Bednorz and Muller, [10] who attributed these to ferroelectric transition.
Rietveld analysis of the diffraction profiles of the polar phase reveals
off-centre displacements of both Sr2+/Ca2+ and Ti4+ ions in the X-Y plane along
pseudocubic directions, in agreement with the experimentally reported
direction of easy polarization by Bednorz and Muller, but the resulting dipole
moments are shown to be ferrielectrically coupled in the neighbouring (001)
planes along the [001] direction leading to anomalously low values of the

Nonequilibrium Dynamics of the Complex Ginzburg-Landau Equation. I. Analytical Results
We present a detailed analytical and numerical study of nonequilibrium
dynamics for the complex Ginzburg-Landau (CGL) equation. In particular, we
characterize evolution morphologies using spiral defects. This paper (referred
to as ) is the first in a two-stage exposition. Here, we present
analytical results for the correlation function arising from a single-spiral
morphology. We also critically examine the utility of the Gaussian auxiliary
field (GAF) ansatz in characterizing a multi-spiral morphology. In the next
paper of this exposition (referred to as ), we will present detailed

Neutrino Emissivity of Dense Stars
The neutrino emissivity of compact stars is investigated in this work. We
consider stars consisting of nuclear as well as quark matter for this purpose.
Different models are used to calculate the composition of nuclear and quark
matter and the neutrino emissivity. Depending on the model under consideration,
the neutrino emissivity of nuclear as well as quark matter varies over a wide
range. We find that for nuclear matter, the direct URCA processes are allowed
for most of the relativistic models without and with strange baryons, whereas
for the nonrelativistic models this shows a strong dependence on the type of
nuclear interaction employed. When the direct URCA processes are allowed, the
neutrino emissivity of hadronic matter is larger than that of the quark matter
by several orders of magnitude. We also find that the neutrino emissivity
departs from behavior when the temperature is larger than the difference
in the Fermi momenta of the particles, participating in the neutrino-producing
