    Challenges in using GPUs for the real-time reconstruction of digital hologram images

    This is the pre-print version of the final published paper that is available from the link below.In-line holography has recently made the transition from silver-halide based recording media, with laser reconstruction, to recording with large-area pixel detectors and computer-based reconstruction. This form of holographic imaging is an established technique for the study of fine particulates, such as cloud or fuel droplets, marine plankton and alluvial sediments, and enables a true 3D object field to be recorded at high resolution over a considerable depth. The move to digital holography promises rapid, if not instantaneous, feedback as it avoids the need for the time-consuming chemical development of plates or film film and a dedicated replay system, but with the growing use of video-rate holographic recording, and the desire to reconstruct fully every frame, the computational challenge becomes considerable. To replay a digital hologram a 2D FFT must be calculated for every depth slice desired in the replayed image volume. A typical hologram of ~100 μm particles over a depth of a few hundred millimetres will require O(10^3) 2D FFT operations to be performed on a hologram of typically a few million pixels. In this paper we discuss the technical challenges in converting our existing reconstruction code to make efficient use of NVIDIA CUDA-based GPU cards and show how near real-time video slice reconstruction can be obtained with holograms as large as 4096 by 4096 pixels. Our performance to date for a number of different NVIDIA GPU running under both Linux and Microsoft Windows is presented. The recent availability of GPU on portable computers is discussed and a new code for interactive replay of digital holograms is presented

    The TV Advertisement Effect to the Purchase Intention of Indomie Through Brand Awareness (Study on the TV Advertisement of Indomie in Surabaya)

    Business competition not only demands a firm to be more innovative and efficient, but also affects to the delivery if information to the consumer.  Indomie spends 981,5 billion rupiahs to advertise the product in television ads since 2017. This research aims to determine the description of television advertisement, brand awareness, and purchase intention. In addition, to identify how much the effect of TV advertisement to the brand awareness, TV advertisement to the purchase intention, the brand awareness to the purchase intention, and TV advertisement to the purchase intention through brand awareness. According to the type of research, this research is categorized into descriptive and causal-explanatory research with quantitative approaches. The population of research is taken from the audiences whoever have seen the TV advertisement of Indomie and also consumed the product of Indomie. The population sample is around 389 respondents by applying the technique of convenience sampling.The research data is collected by having questionnaire instrument. The questionnaire is shared in Kecamatan Sukolilo, Surabaya. The analysis technique exerted in this research is descriptive statistic and path analysis. From the research findings, it shows that the TV advertisement, brand awareness, and purchase intention are in the high category. The TV advertisement affects positively and significantly to build brand awareness, the TV advertisement affects positively and significantly to the purchase intention, and the brand awareness affects positively and significantly to the purchase intention.This research concludes that the indirect effect of TV advertisement towards the purchase intention through the brand awareness is higher than the direct effect of TV advertisement towards the purchase intention of Indomie product in Surabaya. According to the research, the researcher recommends the firm of Indomie could evaluate the advertisement shown in TV to seize the audience attention, be more attractive, and have tendency to purchase the product of Indomie. Moreover, the firm should upgrade the slogan of Indomie to be easily remembered for the consumer. As for the next researchers, they should add the variable of online advertisement which affects to the purchase intention of consumer in wider area coverage of research..     Protection of Records and Data Authentication based on Secret Shares and Watermarking

    The rapid growth in communication technology facilitates the health industry in many aspects from transmission of sensor’s data to real-time diagnosis using cloud-based frameworks. However, the secure transmission of data and its authenticity become a challenging task, especially, for health-related applications. The medical information must be accessible to only the relevant healthcare staff to avoid any unfortunate circumstances for the patient as well as for the healthcare providers. Therefore, a method to protect the identity of a patient and authentication of transmitted data is proposed in this study. The proposed method provides dual protection. First, it encrypts the identity using Shamir’s secret sharing scheme without the increase in dimension of the original identity. Second, the identity is watermarked using zero-watermarking to avoid any distortion into the host signal. The experimental results show that the proposed method encrypts, embeds and extracts identities reliably. Moreover, in case of malicious attack, the method distorts the embedded identity which provides a clear indication of fabrication. An automatic disorder detection system using Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients and Gaussian mixture model is also implemented which concludes that malicious attacks greatly impact on the accurate diagnosis of disorders

    Development of Electromyography Signal Signature for Forearm Muscle

    AbstractElectromyography (EMG) measures muscle response or electrical activity in response to a nerve's stimulation of the muscle. EMG is generally acquired through surface and needle or wire electrodes. The needle or wire electrodes are usually used by clinicians in a clinical setting. This paper concentrates on surface electromyography (sEMG) signal that is acquired in a research laboratory since sEMG is increasingly being recognized as the gold standard for the analysis of muscle activation. The sEMG can utilized for establishing signal signature for forearm muscles that becomes an important input in development of rehabilitative devices. This paper discusses the establishment of sEMG signal signature of female and male subjects for forearm muscles such as extensor carpi radialis, flexor carpi radialis, palmaris longus and pronator teres based on movements such as wrist extension and flexion, hand open and close, and forearm supination and pronation. This was achieved through the use of Butterworth Bessel, Elliptic and Chebyshev filters. The sEMG signal signature could be useful in the development of rehabilitation device of upper extremities

    The dietary intake and practices of adolescent girls in low- and middle-Income countries: A systematic review

    In many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) the double burden of malnutrition is high among adolescent girls, leading to poor health outcomes for the adolescent herself and sustained intergenerational effects. This underpins the importance of adequate dietary intake during this period of rapid biological development. The aim of this systematic review was to summarize the current dietary intake and practices among adolescent girls (10⁻19 years) in LMICs. We searched relevant databases and grey literature using MeSH terms and keywords. After applying specified inclusion and exclusion criteria, 227 articles were selected for data extraction, synthesis, and quality assessment. Of the included studies, 59% were conducted in urban populations, 78% in school settings, and dietary measures and indicators were inconsistent. Mean energy intake was lower in rural settings (1621 ± 312 kcal/day) compared to urban settings (1906 ± 507 kcal/day). Self-reported daily consumption of nutritious foods was low; on average, 16% of girls consumed dairy, 46% consumed meats, 44% consumed fruits, and 37% consumed vegetables. In contrast, energy-dense and nutrient-poor foods, like sweet snacks, salty snacks, fast foods, and sugar-sweetened beverages, were consumed four to six times per week by an average of 63%, 78%, 23%, and 49% of adolescent girls, respectively. 40% of adolescent girls reported skipping breakfast. Along with highlighting the poor dietary habits of adolescent girls in LMIC, this review emphasizes the need for consistently measured and standardized indicators, and dietary intake data that are nationally representativ

    Chemical Analysis and Biological Activities of Salvia lavandulifolia Vahl. Essential Oil

    Genus Salvia is one of important genera belonging to family lamiaceae. Most of reported biological activities of Salvia usually attributed to its volatile oil. The chemical composition of essential oil from Salvia lavandulifolia was analyzed by GC/MS. A total of sixty seven components were identified in the oil of S. lavandulifolia representing 95.78% of the total oil. β-caryophyllene (11.87%), spathulenol (8.13%), neomenthol (7.75%), pulegone (6.97%), hexadecanoic acid (6.85%), germacrene-D (5.70%), bicyclogermacrene (4.53%), caryophyllene oxide (3.97%) and humulene (3.29%) were found to be the major constituents. The oil showed no antimicrobial and antileishmanial activities in a concentration up to 200 and20 µg/mL, respectively. It displayed a weak antimalarial activity (47 % inhibition) against P. flaciparium.The oil exhibited anti-inflammatory activity adopting iNOS inhibition assay with IC50of 30 µg/mL, but there is no cytotoxicity demonstrated by the oil at tested concentration of 100 µg/mL.
