Report number: FERMILAB-PUB-10-125-EWe combine results from searches by the CDF and D0 collaborations for a standard model Higgs boson (H) in the process gg->H->W+W- in p=pbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. With 4.8 fb-1 of integrated luminosity analyzed at CDF and 5.4 fb-1 at D0, the 95% Confidence Level upper limit on \sigma(gg->H) x B(H->W+W-) is 1.75 pb at m_H=120 GeV, 0.38 pb at m_H=165 GeV, and 0.83 pb at m_H=200 GeV. Assuming the presence of a fourth sequential generation of fermions with large masses, we exclude at the 95% Confidence Level a standard-model-like Higgs boson with a mass between 131 and 204 GeV.We combine results from searches by the CDF and D0 collaborations for a standard model Higgs boson (H) in the process gg→H→W+W- in pp̅ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at √s=1.96  TeV. Submitted to Phys. Rev. DA measurement of the \ttbar production cross section in \ppbar collisions at s\sqrt{{\rm s}} = 1.96 TeV using events with two leptons, missing transverse energy, and jets is reported. The data were collected with the CDF II Detector. The result in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity 2.8 fb1^{-1} is: \sigma_{\ttbar} = 6.27 ±\pm 0.73(stat) ±\pm 0.63(syst) ±\pm 0.39(lum) pb. for an assumed top mass of 175 GeV/c2c^{2}.A measurement of the tt̅ production cross section in pp̅ collisions at √s=1.96  TeV using events with two leptons, missing transverse energy, and jets is reported. This chapter of the report of the ``Flavour in the era of the LHC'' Workshop discusses the theoretical, phenomenological and experimental issues related to flavour phenomena in the charged lepton sector and in flavour-conserving CP-violating processes. We review the current experimental limits and the main theoretical models for the flavour structure of fundamental particles. We analyze the phenomenological consequences of the available data, setting constraints on explicit models beyond the Standard Model, presenting benchmarks for the discovery potential of forthcoming measurements both at the LHC and at low energy, and exploring options for possible future experiments.Comment: Report of Working Group 3 of the CERN Workshop ``Flavour in the era of the LHC'', Geneva, Switzerland, November 2005 -- March 200

Measurements of branching fractions for B+→ρ+γ, B0→ρ0γ, and B0→ωγ

We present branching fraction measurements for the radiative decays B+→ρ+γ, B0→ρ0γ, and B0→ωγ. The analysis is based on a data sample of 465×106 BB̅ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory located at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. We find B(B+→ρ+γ)=(1.20-0.37+0.42±0.20)×10-6, B(B0→ρ0γ)=(0.97-0.22+0.24±0.06)×10-6, and a 90% C.L. upper limit B(B0→ωγ)<0.9×10-6, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. We also measure the isospin-violating quantity Γ(B+→ρ+γ)/2Γ(B0→ρ0γ)-1=-0.43-0.22+0.25±0.10

Searches for Lepton flavor violation in the decays tau(+/-) -> e(+/-)gamma and tau(+/-) -> mu(+/-)gamma

Searches for lepton-flavor-violating decays of a tau lepton to a lighter mass lepton and a photon have been performed with the entire data set of (963 +/- 7) x 10(6) tau decays collected by the BABAR detector near the Y(4S), Y(3S) and Y(2S) resonances. The searches yield no evidence of signals and we set upper limits on the branching fractions of B(tau(+/-) -> e(+/-)gamma) mu(+/-)gamma) < 4.4 X 10(-8) at 90% confidence level

Search for B^{+}→ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} recoiling against B^{-}→D^{0}ℓ^{-}ν[over ¯]X

We present a search for the decay B+→ℓ+νℓ(ℓ=τ,μ, or e) in (458.9±5.1)×106 BB̅ pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-factory. We search for these B decays in a sample of B+B- events where one B-meson is reconstructed as B-→D0ℓ-ν̅ X. Using the method of Feldman and Cousins, we obtain B(B+→τ+ντ)=(1.7±0.8±0.2)×10-4, which excludes zero at 2.3σ. We interpret the central value in the context of the standard model and find the B meson decay constant to be fB2=(62±31)×103  MeV2. We find no evidence for B+→e+νe and B+→μ+νμ and set upper limits at the 90% C.L. B(B+→e+νe)<0.8×10-5 and B(B+→μ+νμ)<1.1×10-5

First measurement of the ratio B(t -> Wb)/B(t -> Wq) and associated limit on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa element vertical bar V-tb vertical bar RID C-1693-2008 RID A-5169-2010

We present the first measurement of the ratio of branching fractions R equivalent to B(t --> Wb)/B(t --> Wq) from pa collisions at roots = 1.8 TeV. The data set corresponds to 109 pb(-1) of data recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab during the 1992-95 Tevatron run. We measure R = 0.94(-0.24)(+0.31)(stat + syst) or R > 0.61 (0.56) at 90% (95)% C.L., in agreement with the standard model predictions. This measurement yields a limit on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix element \V-tb\ under the assumption of three generations and unitarity

Measurement of the gamma gamma* -> eta c transition form factor

We study the reaction e(+)e(-) -> e(+)e(-) eta(c), eta(c) -> K(S)K(+/-)pi(-/+) and obtain eta(c) mass and width values 2982.2 +/- 0.4 +/- 1.6 MeV/c(2) and 31.7 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.8 MeV, respectively. We find Gamma(eta(c) -> gamma gamma)B(eta(c) -> KK pi) = 0.374 +/- 0.009 +/- 0.031 keV, and measure the gamma gamma* -> eta(c) transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 2 to 50 GeV(2). The analysis is based on 469 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected at PEP-II with the BABAR detector at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. Search for New Particles in Two-Jet Final States in 7 TeV Proton-Proton Collisions with the ATLAS Detector at the LHC

Get PDF
A search for new heavy particles manifested as resonances in two-jet final states is presented. The data were produced in 7 TeV proton-proton collisions by the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 315 nb(-1) collected by the ATLAS detector. No resonances were observed. Upper limits were set on the product of cross section and signal acceptance for excited-quark (q*) production as a function of q* mass. These exclude at the 95% C. L. the q* mass interval 0: 30< m(q)*< 1:26 TeV, extending the reach of previous experiments
