Cooperación frente al caos en Internet : CORC, una propuesta de trabajo

In the academic environments every day is more evident the necessary mediation between the Internet information and the final user; so emerge the demand of the creation of integrative spaces of resources and information sources. In the Scientific Documentation Area of the Polytechnic University of Valencia this necessity arose and for it was created a web page that collects resources of quality in Internet related with the different thematic areas that interest in this university. It is a thematic project based on the selection of contents of high formal quality. During three months the Scientific Documentation Area has participated in the project CORC (Cooperative Online Resource Catalog), of the OCLC; it is a tool for the coordination of web sites in the institutional portals. In the study the individualized solution is opposed to the cooperative or by consortium. We concludes proposing the creation of a cooperation project between university libraries of the Spanish and European environment that collect resources of the same thematic areas

Planificación de la campaña de formación de PoliBuscador, el portal de acceso a los recursos electrónicos de la Biblioteca de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia

The Library and Scientific Documentation Area of the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia decided to change the access system to electronic resources in order to integrate all resources through only one gateway that facilitated easy searches for users. In this communication, we explain how Polibuscador is divulged and how we carry out the training program of librarians, trainers and users. The purpose of these training sessions was to heighten awareness of the new tool and to obtain an optimal use of this gateway. A factor of success of this campaign was to hold the sessions in the centers where our users develop their educational and investigative activity

Gestión de contenidos en PoliBuscador, el portal de acceso a la Biblioteca Digital de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia

The tendency towards Digital Libraries at Universities is unquestionable and rising fast, keeping pace with the developments of the information industry and the social demands encouraged by new technologies. In this sense, there are tools for Digital Library management and publishing already available in the market and institutions are allocating part of the budget traditionally assigned to information resources to 'technology'. The goal is not only ‘to posses’ information resources but to be able ‘to display’ them appealingly. Consequently, for the library to keep its active role in the information world, it must succeed in meeting the challenge imposed by content management. This communication introduces the work in content management carried out in the implementation of Polibuscador, the gateway to the Digital Library of the Universidad Politecnica of Valencia
