Better features to track by estimating the tracking convergence region

    Get PDF
Reliably tracking key points and textured patches from frame to frame is the basic requirement for many bottomup computer vision algorithms. The problem of selecting the features that can be tracked well is addressed here. The Lucas-Kanade tracking procedure is commonly used. We propose a method to estimate the size of the tracking procedure convergence region for each feature. The features that have a wider convergence region around them should be tracked better by the tracker. The size of the convergence region as a new feature goodness measure is compared with the widely accepted Shi-Tomasi feature selection criteria

A stabilized adaptive appearance changes model for 3D head tracking

    Get PDF
A simple method is presented for 3D head pose estimation and tracking in monocular image sequences. A generic geometric model is used. The initialization consists of aligning the perspective projection of the geometric model with the subjects head in the initial image. After the initialization, the gray levels from the initial image are mapped onto the visible side of the head model to form a textured object. Only a limited number of points on the object is used allowing real-time performance even on low-end computers. The appearance changes caused by movement in the complex light conditions of a real scene present a big problem for fitting the textured model to the data from new images. Having in mind real human-computer interfaces we propose a simple adaptive appearance changes model that is updated by the measurements from the new images. To stabilize the model we constrain it to some neighborhood of the initial gray values. The neighborhood is defined using some simple heuristic

AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICE IN THE FUNCTION OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT

    Get PDF
Agriculture and agricultural extension service are facing numerous problems in present times when good solutions are not easy to find. Providing of agricultural extension service is important foreign-political instrument of a state which has stimulates the development of agricultural production. Agricultural extension service must provide effective link between holdings-producers, agricultural research and other sources of information. Agricultural extension agents must be aware of psycho-social and social aspects of group action and individual counselling. Therefore, one of priorities in agricultural development of our country is rising of the level of extension operation and establishment of extension service based on modern principles. This is the reason why in this paper, some of the traits of the genesis of extension services were indicated, as well as types of extension services and models of the organization, financing and human resources at disposal and structuring of these resources according to main characteristics, for the purpose of modernization and agricultural and rural development.agricultural extension service, types, models, functioning, human resources, Agribusiness, Community/Rural/Urban Development, Teaching/Communication/Extension/Profession,

Waterfront regeneration in post-socialist Belgrade: benefits and risks

    Get PDF
Cities all over the world are (re)discovering their waterfronts as places for public enjoyment, and as opportunities for new economic development. Although waterfront regeneration has been well studied in developed countries, only recently have researchers begun to explore it in post-socialist context. We contribute to this line of the research by examining the process of waterfront regeneration in Belgrade, Serbia. The paper presents three phases in redevelopment of Belgradeā€™s central waterfront, and analyses their benefits, risks and links. These phases were realized through different approaches to urban regeneration: a) as grassroots events by Public art & Public space programme, b) as bottom-up formation of Savamala creative district, and c) through top-down megaproject ā€œBelgrade Waterfrontā€

OptComNet: Optimized Neural Networks for Low-Complexity Channel Estimation

The use of machine learning methods to tackle challenging physical layer signal processing tasks has attracted significant attention. In this work, we focus on the use of neural networks (NNs) to perform pilot-assisted channel estimation in an OFDM system in order to avoid the challenging task of estimating the channel covariance matrix. In particular, we perform a systematic design-space exploration of NN configurations, quantization, and pruning in order to improve feedforward NN architectures that are typically used in the literature for the channel estimation task. We show that choosing an appropriate NN architecture is crucial to reduce the complexity of NN-assisted channel estimation methods. Moreover, we demonstrate that, similarly to other applications and domains, careful quantization and pruning can lead to significant complexity reduction with a negligible performance degradation. Finally, we show that using a solution with multiple distinct NNs trained for different signal-to-noise ratios interestingly leads to lower overall computational complexity and storage requirements, while achieving a better performance with respect to using a single NN trained for the entire SNR range.Comment: To be presented at IEEE ICC 202

SOCIALY RESPONSIBLE MARKETING - YESTERDAY AND TODAY

Several factors direct the companies to apply a higher level of corporate social responsibility: the increasing expectations of customers, changes in expectations of employees, laws and government pressure, investor interest in the social criteria and changes in supply practicesThe basic principles of socially responsible marketing as an ethical business, respect for ecological principles and respect for the legislation. Organizations must ensure that all employees know and observe the relevant laws.Companies mustĀ adopt and make available to the written rules of ethics, to develop tradition of ethical conduct in the company and impose a responsibility to his men to follow ethical and legal guidelines.By adopting these or similar principles, companies can create opportunities to reduce current and future costs, strengthen competitiveness and market position and achieving greater profits. In contemporary business, more ecological component is present in the execution of business activities as an important prerequisite for improving competitive advantage and company image. Awareness of the issue of environmental protection in companies has evolved primarily as a result of the influence of customers and various non-governmental and non-profit organizations on marketing orientation of companies, and the requirements for the development of products and services that meet environmental standards and consumer needs.
