A novel on-line cable PD localisation method based on cable transfer function and detected PD pulse rise-time
Partial discharge pulse propagation in power cable and partial discharge monitoring system
Partial discharge (PD) based condition monitoring has been widely applied to power cables. However, difficulties in interpretation of measurement results (location and criticality) remain to be tackled. This paper aims to develop further knowledge in PD signal propagation in power cables and attenuation by the PD monitoring system devices to address the localization and criticality issues. As on-line or in-service PD monitoring sensors commonly comprise of a high frequency current transformer (HFCT) and a high-pass filter, the characteristics of detected PD pulses depend on the attenuation of the cable, the HFCT used and the filter applied. Simulation of pulse propagation in a cable and PD monitoring system are performed, based on analyses in the frequency domain using the concept of transfer functions. Results have been verified by laboratory experiments and using on-site PD measurements. The knowledge gained from the research on the change in pulse characteristics propagating in a cable and through a PD detection system can be very useful to PD denoising and for development of a PD localization technique
A lightweight intrusion alert fusion system
In this paper, we present some practical experience on implementing an alert fusion mechanism from our project. After investigation on most of the existing alert fusion systems, we found the current body of work alternatively weighed down in the mire of insecure design or rarely deployed because of their complexity. As confirmed by our experimental analysis, unsuitable mechanisms could easily be submerged by an abundance of useless alerts. Even with the use of methods that achieve a high fusion rate and low false positives, attack is also possible. To find the solution, we carried out analysis on a series of alerts generated by well-known datasets as well as realistic alerts from the Australian Honey-Pot. One important finding is that one alert has more than an 85% chance of being fused in the following 5 alerts. Of particular importance is our design of a novel lightweight Cache-based Alert Fusion Scheme, called CAFS. CAFS has the capacity to not only reduce the quantity of useless alerts generated by IDS (Intrusion Detection System), but also enhance the accuracy of alerts, therefore greatly reducing the cost of fusion processing. We also present reasonable and practical specifications for the target-oriented fusion policy that provides a quality guarantee on alert fusion, and as a result seamlessly satisfies the process of successive correlation. Our experimental results showed that the CAFS easily attained the desired level of survivable, inescapable alert fusion design. Furthermore, as a lightweight scheme, CAFS can easily be deployed and excel in a large amount of alert fusions, which go towards improving the usability of system resources. To the best of our knowledge, our work is a novel exploration in addressing these problems from a survivable, inescapable and deployable point of view
F-wave heavy-light meson spectroscopy in QCD sum rules and heavy quark effective theory
We study the F-wave c_bar s heavy meson doublets (2+,3+) and (3+,4+). They
have large orbital excitations L=3, and may be good challenges (tests) for
theoretical studies. To study them we use the method of QCD sum rule in the
framework of heavy quark effective theory. Their masses are predicted to be
m_{(2+,3+)} = (3.45 \pm 0.25, 3.50 \pm 0.26) GeV and m_{(3+,4+)} = (3.20 \pm
0.22, 3.26 \pm 0.23) GeV, with mass splittings Delta m_{(2+,3+)} = m_{3+} -
m_{2+} = 0.046 \pm 0.030 GeV and Delta m_{(3+,4+)} = 0.053 \pm 0.044 GeV,
respectively. We note that this is a pioneering work and these results are
provisional.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables, accepted by PR
State estimation from pair of conjugate qudits
We show that, for parallel input states, an anti-linear map with respect
to a specific basis is essentially a classical operator. We also consider the
information contained in phase-conjugate pairs , and prove
that there is more information about a quantum state encoded in phase-conjugate
pairs than in parallel pairs.Comment: 4 pages, 1 tabl
Anisotropic Electron-Hole Excitation and Large Linear Dichroism in Two-Dimensional Ferromagnet CrSBr with In-Plane Magnetization
The observation of magnetic ordering in atomically thin CrI and
CrGeTe monolayers has aroused intense interest in condensed matter
physics and material science. Studies of van de Waals two-dimensional (2D)
magnetic materials are of both fundamental importance and application interest.
In particular, exciton-enhanced magneto-optical properties revealed in CrI
and CrBr monolayers have expanded the understanding of exciton physics in
2D materials. Unlike CrI and CrBr with out-of-plane magnetization,
CrSBr has an in-plane magnetic moment, therefore, providing a good opportunity
to study the magnetic linear dichroism and high-order magneto-optical effects.
Here, based on the many-body perturbation method within density-functional
theory, we have studied quasiparticle electronic structure, exciton, and
optical properties in CrSBr monolayer. Strongly bounded exciton has been
identified with the first bright exciton located at 1.35 eV, in good agreement
with an experiment of photoluminescence (Nat. Mater. \textbf{20}, 1657 (2021)).
Strong contrast in the optical absorption is found between the electric fields
lying along the in-plane two orthogonal directions. In accordance with a
typical and realistic experimental setup, we show that the rotation angle of
linear polarized light, either reflected or transmitted, could be comparable
with those revealed in black phosphorene. Such large linear dichroism arises
mainly from anisotropic in-plane crystal structure. The magnetic contribution
from the off-diagonal component of dielectric function to the linear dichroism
in CrSBr is negligible. Our findings not only have revealed excitonic effect on
the optical and magneto-optical properties in 2D ferromagnet CrSBr, but also
have shown its potential applications in 2D optics and optoelectronics.Comment: 47 pages, 24 figure
